THE ORGANIZATION WAS FOUNDED BY AND IS PARTIALLY SUPPORTED BY CHURCHES IN THE MULBERRY, FLORIDA AREA. THE ORGANIZATION IS DESIGNED TO ACT AS AN INFORMATIONAL AND REFERRAL SERVICE, TO MEET EMERGENCY NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE OF THE AREA AS FUNDS PERMIT, PROMOTE FINANCIAL STABILITY FOR FAMILIES, AND TO DEVELOP POLICIES AND PROGRAMS TO MEET THE INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY NOT BEING MET BY ANY OTHER AGENCY. TODAY, OUR MISSION IS TO CREATE FINANCIALLY STABLE HOUSEHOLDS THROUGH FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT EDUCATION. WE WORK WITH FAMILIES ON THE CONCEPTS OF BASIC BUDGETING, TRACKING OF WEEKLY SPENDING, PREPARING A FINANCIAL GOAL PLAN, BASIC BANKING INFORMATION, MONEY MANAGEMENT CLASSES AND ASSIGNMENT OF A MONEY COACH, ALONG WITH REFERRALS TO POLK WORKS FOR JOB TRAINING SKILLS. MULBERRY COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER HAS PARTNERED WITH UNITED WAY AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO CREATE A PERSONAL FINANCE CENTER PROGRAM TO TEACH FINANCIAL STABILITY, CREDIT RESTORATION,AND PROMOTE SAVINGS.
THE ORGANIZATION HAS ESTABLISHED A TAX PROGRAM WITH FUNDING FROM UNITED WAY AND THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVOCE TO ASSIST QUALIFYING INDIVIDUALS WITH TAX PREPARATION.
