A PROGRAM OF COCONUT GROVE CARES, THE BARNYARD IS A NEIGHBORHOODCOMMUNITY CENTER, LOCATED IN THE HEART OF COCONUT GROVE-VILLAGE WEST.IT IS A MAGICAL PLACE FOR CHILDREN 5-12, TO LEARN, PLAY, SHARE ANDGROW. THE FOCUS OF THE AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM OFFEREDAT THE BARNYARD IS ON IMPROVING STUDENTS' LITERACY, SOCIAL SKILLS, ANDFOSTERING ACADEMIC GROWTH. THE CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES ALSO BENEFITFROM MENTORING, ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING, AND PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING. ALLSERVICES PROVIDED ARE FREE TO THE COMMUNITY. THESE SERVICES ARE BUILDING A STRONGER WEST COCONUT GROVE BY ADDRESSING EDUCATIONAL DISPARITIES AND PROMOTING HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS.THE FY 2020 2021 AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAM SERVED 71 CHILDREN.ACTIVITIES WERE MODIFIED TO COMPLY WITH CDC COVID19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS, AND TO HELP CHILDREN COPE WITH THE PANDEMIC. AFTER SCHOOL SERVICES WERE PROVIDED VIA ZOOM AND IN PERSON MONDAY-FRIDAY FROM 2PM-6PM DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. SUMMER CAMP SERVICES WERE PROVIDED IN PERSON MONDAY-FRIDAY FROM 8AM-5:30PM.
