FLORIDA LIONS EYE BANK IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT RECOVERS, PROCESSES, AND DISTRIBUTES OCULAR TISSUE FOR SIGHT SAVING SURGERY, PROVIDES TISSUE AND FUNDING FOR OPHTHALMIC RESEARCH AND OPERATES AN OCULAR PATHOLOGY LABORATORY. IN ADDITION, FLORIDA LIONS EYE BANK PROCESSES AUTOLOGOUS SERUM EYE DROPS FOR PATIENTS REQUIRING THIS THERAPY. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, FLORIDA LIONS EYE BANK RECOVERED TISSUE FROM 988 EYE DONORS AND DISTRIBUTED TISSUE FOR 1,185 SURGERIES. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED 665 TISSUES FOR RESEARCH OR TEACHING PURPOSES AND PROCESSED 4,632 SPECIMENS IN THE OCULAR PATHOLOGY LABORATORY. FINALLY, THE ORGANIZATION PREPARED AUTOLOGOUS SERUM EYE DROPS FOR 1,832 PATIENTS THROUGHOUT FLORIDA.
