THESE ARE THE BUILDING BLOCKS FOR A GOOD LIFE - A QUALITY EDUCATION THAT LEADS TO A STABLE JOB, ENOUGH INCOME TO SUPPORT A FAMILY THROUGH RETIREMENT AND GOOD HEALTH. OUR GOAL IS TO CREATE REAL LONG LASTING CHANGE THAT PREVENTS PROBLEMS FROM HAPPENING IN THE FIRST PLACE. TOGETHER,UNITED, WE CAN ASPIRE HOPE AND CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR A BETTER TOMORROW. UNITED WAY MAKES ALLOCATION/SUPPORT PAYMENTS TO A VARITY OF NON PROFIT AGENCIES IN RALEIGH, NICHOLAS, SUMMERS, WYOMING, FAYETTE, MCDOWELL AND MERCER COUNTIES IN SOUTHERN WEST VIRGINIA AND THE TOWN OF BLUEFIELD VIRGINIA. IT ALSO PROVIDES DIRECT ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS THROUGH ITS INTERNALLY MANAGED LITERACY PROGRAM, 2-1-1 SOCIAL SERVICES AND INFORMATIONAL HOTLINE, FEEDING INITIATIVE, PREGANCY EDUCATION, AND EQUAL FOOTING SHOE PROGRAM.DURING THE 2016 YEAR THE ORGANIZATION ENTERED IN TO CERTAIN FISCAL SPONSERSHIP ARRANGEMENTS WITH NON INCORPORATED ENTITIES WHICH WERE ESTABLISHED IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ELEMENTS OF RELEIF TO CERTAIN FLOOD REVAGED AREAS, SPECIFICALLY FAYETTE AND NICHOLAS COUNTIES IN SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL WEST VIRGINIA.
