THE HIGHLAND PARK CONSERVANCY IS LEADING EFFORTS TO RAISE FUNDS TO RECONSTRUCT THE PARK'S OVERLOOK BY REBUILDING THE CHILDREN'S PAVILLION TO ITS ORIGIANL FORM, SCALE AND STYLE, BUT WITH AN ADAPTED DESIGN TO PROVIDE UNIVERSAL ACCESS.

THE HIGHLAND PARK CONSERVANCY (HPC) IS THE OFFICIAL NOT-FOR-PROFIT VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION FORMED TO HELP PRESERVE HIGHLAND PARK'S UNIQUE HERITAGE AND TO PROMOTE ITS VAST HORTICULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND RECREATIONAL RESOURCES. IT SUPPORTS SOUND PLANNING, MANAGEMENT AND RESTORATION. CONSERVANCY VOLUNTEERS CONDUCT TOURS, AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL EVENTS THAT ARE FREE AND OPEN TO ALL. TOURS INCLUDE THOSE THAT FOCUS ON THE VARIOUS HORTICULTURAL COLLECTIONS IN THE PARK, THE KEY FEATURES OF THIS FREDERICK LAW OLMSTED DESIGNED PARK AND THE HISTORY OF THE PARK. VOLUNTEERS ALSO PARTICIPATE BY UNDERTAKING SMALL MAINTENANCE PROJECTS AND SERVING ON VARIOUS REGIONAL COMMITTEES TO ADVOCATE FOR THE PARK'S NEEDS.(CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)HPC HAS AN AGREEMENT WITH MONROE COUNTY. THIS AGREEMENT RECOGNIZES HPC AS THE OFFICIAL NOT-FOR-PROFIT SUPPORT ORGANIZATION FOR HIGHLAND PARK.THE CONSERVANCY IS THE RESTORATION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF THE 1890 CHILDREN'S PAVILLON TO ITS ORIGINAL FORM, SCALE, AND STYLE, WITH ADAPTATION FOR UNIVERSAL ACCESS. A KEY FEATURE OF THE FREDERICK LAW OLMSTEAD'S PARK, THE PAVILLION SERVED AS A POPULAR COMMUNITY LANDMARK AND GATHERING PLACE FOR SEVENTY-THREE YEARS - UNTIL IT WAS DEMOLISHED IN 1963. HPC IS CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS TO RECONSTRUCT THE CHILDREN'S PAVILLION.
