SCIENCE EDUCATION PROGRAMS - FOR DECADES, SOCIETY FOR SCIENCE HAS OFFERED MANY OF MOST REVERED K-12 SCIENCE COMPETITIONS IN THE WORLD; THE REGENERON SCIENCE TALENT SEARCH, THE REGENERON INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR, AND FOR THE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS, BROADCOM MASTERS (MATH, APPLIED SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING FAIR FOR RISING STARS). THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS, WHICH ENCOURAGE AND REWARD INDEPENDENT SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND PROJECT-BASED LEARNING, THE SOCIETY IS GROWING THE PIPELINE OF STEM PROFESSIONALS BY EMPOWERING OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS OF TOP TALENT TO BECOME SCIENTISTS, ENGINEERS, AND INVENTORS.
SCIENCE NEWS - THE SOCIETY FOR SCIENCE WAS FOUNDED IN 1921 WITH A MISSION TO PROVIDE IN-DEPTH, TRUSTWORTHY, ACCURATE SCIENCE JOURNALISM FOR THE PUBLIC. SINCE THEN, OUR OFFERINGS HAVE GROWN TO INCLUDE OUR FLAGSHIP PRINT MAGAZINE, SCIENCE NEWS AND ITS WEBSITE, WE ALSO PRODUCE SCIENCE NEWS FOR STUDENTS, A WEBSITE WITH NEWS FOR AGES 9 AND UP AS WELL AS TEACHERS AND PARENTS. THE SCIENCE NEWS MEDIA GROUP ALSO OFFERS THE SCIENCE NEWS IN HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES SCIENCE NEWS MAGAZINE AND SUPPLEMENTARY EDUCATOR GUIDES TO MORE THE 5,000 MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL ACROSS THE U.S., MAKING CURRENT SCIENCE ACCESSIBLE TO STUDENTS AND EDUCATORS. SCIENCE NEWS HAS MORE THAN 118,000 PAID SUBSCRIBERS, AND 23 MILLION UNIQUE ONLINE USERS IN 2021. SCIENCE NEWS HAS 4.4 MILLION FOLLOWERS ON TWITTER, AND 2.6 MILLION FOLLOWERS ON FACEBOOK. THE SCIENCE NEWS FOR STUDENTS WEBSITE DREW 11 MILLION UNIQUE VISITORS IN 2021, WITH MORE THAN 1 MILLION FACEBOOK FOLLOWERS.
OUTREACH & EQUITY - BEGINNING IN 2015 , THE SOCIETY EXPANDED OUR OUTREACH AND EQUITY WORK TO ENSURE EVERY YOUNG PERSON IN THE UNITED STATES HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME A SCIENTIST OR ENGINEER. THROUGH MULTIPLE EDUCATOR-FOCUSED PROGRAMS, WE PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, NETWORKING AND FUNDS TO EDUCATORS TO SUPPORT THEIR INTERACTION WITH STUDENTS THAT ARE UNDER-SERVED AND UNDER-REPRESENTED. THE ADVOCATES PROGRAM WORKS WITH EDUCATORS MENTORING STUDENTS WHO ARE UNDERREPRESENTED IN THE STEM FIELDS TO FIND AND COMPETE IN SCIENCE RESEARCH COMPETITIONS. TWO ANNUAL RESEARCH TEACHERS CONFERENCES, ONE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL AND ONE FOR HIGH SCHOOL, BRING TOGETHER SCIENCE RESEARCH TEACHERS TO COMMUNITY BASED STEM PROJECTS. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE ACCESS TO MILLIONS OF STUDENTS, EDUCATORS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA AND U.S. TERRITORIES.
