REACH CRISIS INTERVENTION: REACH ASSISTS HOMELESS OR POOR INDIVIDUALS IN WASHINGTON COUNTY WITH EMERGENCY LODGING, FOOD AND MEDICAL NEEDS. VOLUNTEERS RESPOND TO CRISIS NEEDS IN THE EVENING & WEEKENDS WHEN SOCIAL SERVICES IS CLOSED.
COLD WEATHER SHELTER: HOMELESS ADULTS WERE ASSISTED WITH SHELTER, FOOD, AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES REFERRALS TO HELP THEM WITH NEEDED SERVICES SUCH AS HOUSING, MEDICAL CARE, COUNSELING, AND EMPLOYMENT. THE SHELTER OPERATES OCTOBER TO APRIL.
SELF-SUFFICIENCY PROGRAMS: FINANCIAL LITERACY - A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL STABILITY AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY TO THE RESIDENTS OF WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD. MANY FAMILIES LIVE ON A VERY LIMITED INCOME. FINANCIAL LITERACY CAN BE THE FOUNDATION THAT SUPPORTS A SUCCESSFUL SUSTAINABLE HOME. THROUGH THE FINANCIAL EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP-WASHINGTON COUNTY, REACH OFFERS FINANCIAL EDUCATION TRAINING TO A BROAD SPECTRUM OF COUNTY RESIDENTS.
BRIDGE TO CHANGE: A PROGRAM THAT FOCUSES ON DEVELOPING HUMAN POTENTIAL THROUGH PURPOSEFUL WORK EXPERIENCES FOR THE HOMELESS. THIS PROGRAM GIVES REACH HOMELESS CLIENTS THAT ARE READY FOR CHANGE, THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK BY CLEANING THE CITY OF HAGERSTOWN. THE PROGRAM HELPS DEVELOP SOFT SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE NEEDED TO GAIN EMPLOYMENT OR ENTER A JOB SERVICES PROGRAM BY TEACHING RESPONSIBILITY, RELIABILITY, AND TEAMWORK. PARTICIPANTS ARE PAID HOURLY BY REACH. WHILE IN THE PROGRAM, PARTICIPANTS WILL WORK WITH CASE MANAGERS TO MOVE TOWARDS INDEPENDENCE.
