THE MISSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR THE RULE OF LAW, INC (IIRL INC.) IS TO EDUCATE AND PROMOTE THE RULE OF LAW IN VARIOUS COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD. THE RULE OF LAW DOES NOT HAVE A PRECISE DEFINITION, AND ITS MEANING CAN VARY BETWEEN DIFFERENT NATIONS AND LEGAL TRADITIONS. GENERALLY, HOWEVER, IT CAN BE UNDERSTOOD AS A LEGAL-POLITICAL REGIME UNDER WHICH THE LAW RESTRAINS THE GOVERNMENT BY PROMOTING CERTAIN LIBERTIES AND CREATING ORDER AND PREDICTABILITY REGARDING HOW A COUNTRY FUNCTIONS. IN THE MOST BASIC SENSE, THE RULE OF LAW IS A SYSTEM THAT ATTEMPTS TO PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF CITIZENS FROM ARBITRARY AND ABUSIVE USE OF GOVERNMENT POWER. IT IS THIS PRINCIPLE THAT IS AT THE HEART OF THE MISSION OF IIRL INC.FURTHER, IIRL INC.S MISSION IS ALSO TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO NEEDY INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS TO REDRESS HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS. A.RULE OF LAW PROGRAM IN IRAQIIRL INC. CONTINUES TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR THE RULE OF LAW (IIRL), A REGISTERED IRAQ-BASED NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION. OVER THE YEARS, IIRL HAS ENGAGED, WITH INTERNATIONAL DONORS SUCH AS USAID AND THE WORLD BANK, IN RULE OF LAW RELATED ACTIVITIES SUCH AS PROMOTING: ACCESS TO JUSTICE, JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE, CONSTITUTIONAL DRAFTING, PROPERTY RIGHTS FOR DISPLACED PERSONS AND TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE.IIRL INC. ENTERED INTO NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE WORLD BANK TO SUPPORT THEM ON ANTI-CORRUPTION PROGRAM IN IRAQ. PRELIMINARY SUPPORT WAS PROVIDED IN ADVANCE OF THE CONTRACT EXECUTION WHICH OCCURRED IN EARLY 2022.RECENTLY, IIRL HAS FOCUSED ITS ATTENTION ON THE PLIGHT OF NEEDY WIDOWS, ORPHANS AND DISPLACED PERSONS WHOSE HUMAN RIGHTS HAVE BEEN SEVERELY VIOLATED. THIS HAS INCLUDED PROVIDING BASIC NEEDS IRAQIS WHO ARE VICTIMS OF TERROR GROUPS. THESE VICTIMS INCLUDE MINORITY GROUPS SUCH AS CHRISTIANS AND YAZIDIS.IIRL ALSO PROVIDES SUPPORT AND COMFORT TO ORPHANS THROUGH EID, CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS, BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND AN INTERNATIONAL ORPHAN DAY CELEBRATION.
