THE ARC OF DELAWARE PROMOTES AND PROTECTS THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, AND ACTIVELY SUPPORTS FULL INCLUSION AND PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMUNITY THROUGH ADVOCACY AND SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

THE ARC OF DELAWARE OUTREACH PROGRAM SUPPORTS PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL/DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (I/DD) AND THEIR FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITY. SINCE 1992, THE ARC HAS OFFERED THE NECESSITY OF LIFE FUND AS A RESOURCE TO INDIVIDUALS IN DELAWARE WITH I/DD TO HELP PURCHASE ITEMS ESSENTIAL TO THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE THAT THEY WOULD NOT OTHERWISE BE ABLE TO AFFORD. IN ADDITION TO HELPING THESE INDIVIDUALS WITH CRITICAL NEEDS AND NECESSITIES, THE ARC OF DELAWARE ALSO RECOGNIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR DEVELOPING SOCIAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS, WHICH CAN IMPROVE A PERSON'S ABILITY TO LIVE AND WORK IN THE COMMUNITY, AND CONTRIBUTE TO A SUCCESSFUL AND FULFILLED LIFE.
IN 2021, THE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM HELPED 150 PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES WITH EMPLOYMENT BY PROVIDING COMMUNITY INTEGRATED JOB DEVELOPMENT, JOB COACHING, PLACEMENT AND FOLLOW-ALONG SUPPORT TO ENSURE LONG TERM SUCCESS.
APPROXIMATELY 1,100 PEOPLE STATEWIDE RECEIVED INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES FROM THE ARC OF DELAWARE IN 2021.
