IN ORDER TO ENVISION OHIO AS A PLACE WHERE BUSINESSES THRIVE, COMMUNITIES ARE SAFE AND STRONG, AND PUBLIC POLICY SUPPORTS ECONOMIC FREEDOM, THE OHIO CHAMBER RESEARCH FOUNDATION DOES ITS PART BY PROMOTING A HEALTHY ECONOMY IN OHIO BY EXPLORING STRATEGIES AND DELIVERING COMPREHENSIVE, OBJECTIVE RESEARCH AND INFORMATION.

THE PROSPERITY PULSE: A QUARTERLY SURVEY OF OHIO BUSINESS LEADERS TO MEASURE AND TRACK ECONOMIC HEALTH OF OHIO. IN 2020, WE DEPLOYED FOUR QUARTERLY SURVEYS AND RECEIVED APPROXIMATELY 1,600 RESPONSES. WE PRESENTED THE RESULTS AT VARIOUS MEETINGS HELD BY THE OHIO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. NO PROGRAM SERVICE REVENUE AS ALL REVENUE FOR THIS PROGRAM WAS CONTRIBUTION/GRANT REVENUE.
THIS PROJECT REPRESENTS THE FIRST COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC IMPACT ANALYSIS OF THE BUSINESS INCOME DEDUCTION (BID) IN THE STATE OF OHIO. THE FOUNDATION RELEASED A REPORT IN 2021 (FUNDRAISING BEGAN IN 2020) PAIRED WITH A THIRD-PARTY STUDY ON THE ANALYSIS OF THIS TAX DEDUCTION. THE ANALYSIS SHOWED THAT THE BID HAS HAD A POSITIVE IMPACT ON OHIO'S ECONOMY AND PROVISIONS HAVE PROVEN TO BE EFFECTIVE IN INCENTIVIZING SMALL BUSINESSES TO REINVEST THEIR TAX SAVINGS. THE REPORT SUPPORTED THAT THE BID LED TO EMPLOYMENT OF OVER 59,000 OHIOANS AND TAX SAVINGS HAVE HELPED ROUGHLY 1,200 BUSINESSES KEEP THEIR DOORS OPEN IN 2018. THE REPORT HAS BEEN SHARED WITH OHIO'S BUSINESS COMMUNITY, TRADE ASSOCIATIONS, AND THE OHIO LEGISLATURE.
RESEARCH PROJECTS REPRESENT SMALLER PROJECTS CONSIDERED AND ULTIMATELY DETERMINED TO BE FUTURE PROJECTS, NOT GOOD INVESTMENTS, OR JUST DID NOT HAVE MUCH ACTIVITY DURING 2020. THESE RELATED TO BENEFITS CLIFF ANALYSIS, LUNCH/LEARN/LEAD OPPORTUNITIES, ECONOMIC DASHBOARDS AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES TAX. MOST OF THESE COSTS INCURRED REPRESENT PAYROLL AND RELATED BENEFITS.
