EDUCATE78S MISSION IS TO ENSURE THAT EVERY STUDENT, IN ALL 78 SQUARE MILES OF OAKLAND, HAS A WORLD-CLASS PUBLIC EDUCATION. ACCORDINGLY, EDUCATE78S ACTIVITIES CENTER ON INCREASING THE NUMBER OF OAKLAND STUDENTS WHO HAVE ACCESS TO HIGH QUALITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND GRADUATE READY FOR COLLEGE, CAREER AND CITIZENSHIP.

EMPOWERED FAMILIES: KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN OUR EDUCATE78 EMPOWERED FAMILIES GRANT MAKING AND DIRECT PROGRAM WORK INCLUDES FUNDING AND COORDINATING ENROLLMENT PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS AND FAMILY-DRIVEN ADVOCACY SO FAMILIES WHO MOST NEED BETTER OPTIONS INFLUENCE POLICY DECISIONS. THIS INCLUDED IMPROVED ENROLLMENT PROCESS FOR FAMILIES THROUGH A COMMON ENROLLMENT PROCESS FOR 93% OF OAKLAND CHARTER SCHOOLS IN COLLABORATION WITH OUSD WITH COMMON DEADLINES AND JOINT MARKETING FOR THE FIRST TIME. THE OUTREACH AND STEADILY INCREASED THE NUMBER OF AFRICAN AMERICAN AND LATINX FAMILIES ACTIVELY CHOOSING A SCHOOL BY 10%. OUR WORK INCLUDED SUPPORT OF A PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS FIRST MAJOR PUBLIC CAMPAIGN TO PRIORITIZE ENROLLMENT FOR CHILDREN DISPLACED BY CLOSING SCHOOLS.
TRANSFORMATIONAL SCHOOLS: KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN OUR EDUCATE78 TRANSFORMATIONAL SCHOOLS GRANT MAKING AND DIRECT PROGRAM WORK INCLUDES DEVELOPING HIGHER-QUALITY SCHOOLS BY COACHING AND TRAINING TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS, AND FACILITATING COLLABORATION. OUR WORK SUPPORTS HIGH-DEMAND CHARTER AND DISTRICT SCHOOLS TO SERVE MORE STUDENTS WHILE MAINTAINING QUALITY. WITH OUR SUPPORT, A CMO EXPANDED 1 NEW HIGH-QUALITY CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY SERVE 360 STUDENTS. WE LAUNCHED THE ANTI-RACIST COLLECTIVE TO INCREASE EFFICACY AND RETENTION GIVEN THE POSITIVE IMPACT EDUCATORS OF COLOR HAVE ON OUTCOMES FOR STUDENTS OF ALL RACES. PRINCIPALS, SUPERVISORS, AND LEADERSHIP TEAMS FROM 5 CHARTER & 3 DISTRICT SCHOOLS ARE SUPPORTED TO DEVELOP THEIR RACE EQUITY AND INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP.
