IN HAITI, BRACE FOR IMPACT 46 SUPPORTS A CHILDRENS HOME WITH 40 ORPHANED OR ABANDONED CHILDREN, PROVIDING EDUCATION, MEDICAL CARE (1000 CHILDREN AND ADULTS IN THE COMMUNITY), CLEAN WATER AND EVERYDAY NEEDS. THE SCHOOL ON CAMPUS SUPPORTS CHILDREN WHO ATTEND AS WELL AS 120 CHILDREN FROM THE COMMUNITY. THE COMMUNITY IS AFFECTED BY EMPLOYMENT, MEDICAL CARE, WATER SYSTEMS AND FOOD. THE BREAKING BREAD FEEDING PROGRAM SERVES 52,920 LUNCHES PER YEAR, SCHOOL PROVIDES A HOT NUTRITIOUS MEAL EACH SCHOOL DAY FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF AND SENDING HOME PRE-PACKAGED MEALS ON THE WEEKENDS ENSURING THE STUDENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR PROPER NUTRITION. THIS HAS CREATED SUCCESS WITHIN THE STUDENT BODY SO THEY MAY FOCUS ON THEIR EDUCATION WITHOUT THE STRESS OF WHERE THEIR NEXT MEAL COMES FROM. IT TAKES A HEAVY BURDEN AWAY FROM THE PARENTS AND SUPPORTS THE ECONOMY AS THE INGREDIENTS ARE PURCHASED LOCALLY. BREW FOR IMPACT PROGRAM PROVIDES SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYMENT WITHIN FARMING COMMUNITIES.
THE ST. LOUIS PROGRAM EMPHASIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY STRUCTURE, JOB CREATION AND EDUCATION EQUIPPING FAMILIES TO FOCUS ON THESE THINGS ALONG WITH SUSTAINING A STABLE HOME LIFE. THE PURCHASE AND RENOVATION OF HOMES IN THE NORTH ST. LOUIS CITY AREA PROVIDE SAFE STABLE HOUSING FOR FAMILIES BUT ALSO PROVIDE WRAP AROUND SERVICES FOR THE FAMILIES. THE FOCUS IS ON INVOLVING THE COMMUNITY IN EVERYTHING DONE, WHICH INCLUDES EMPLOYING LOCAL CONTRACTORS FOR WORK ON THE HOMES. THE FAMILIES RENT THE HOMES AND ATTEND QUARTERLY SEMINARS THAT FOCUS ON THE NEEDS OF THEIR FAMILY. THEY ALSO VOLUNTEER IN THE COMMUNITY TWO TO FOUR HOURS PER MONTH. A COMMUNITY COORDINATOR WORKS CLOSELY WITH EACH FAMILY TO CONNECT THEM TO OTHER NON PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND SERVICES BEST FIT FOR EACH FAMILY. TO DATE, THIS PROGRAM HAS HELPED EMPLOY 96 CONSTRUCTION WORKERS AT A 78% MINORITY RATE. ST. LOUIS PROJECT HAS ACQUIRED 14 PROPERTIES 6 HOMES RENOVATED, AND 22 FAMILY MEMBERS IMPACTED.
