UMA IS A COALITION WORKING TOWARDS SUSTAINING AND GROWING MANUFACTURING IN CITIES. UMA BRINGS PARTICIPANTS TOGETHER TO DEVELOP BEST PRACTICES AROUND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

IN 2021, UMA CONTINUED TO REALIZE OUR POSITION AS ADVOCATES FOR MANUFACTURING AS A WEALTH BUILDING STRATEGY THROUGH OUR COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE, COHORT INITIATIVES, ORIGINAL RESEARCH IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR NETWORK OF OVER 2,000 PRACTITIONERS. WE HAD THREE PREDOMINANT TOPICS OF FOCUS CAPITAL ACCESS PATHWAYS TO PATIENT CAPITAL, ECOSYSTEM-BUILDING LOCAL BRANDING, BAY AREA URBAN MANUFACTURING INITIATIVE, DESIGN JAMS, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INDUSTRY INCLUSION. CAPITAL ACCESS STARTING IN 2019, UMA CONVENED A COHORT OF INNOVATIVE CAPITAL PROVIDERS TO HONE THEIR FOCUS ON MANUFACTURING STRENGTHEN PATIENT, FLEXIBLE CAPITAL PRODUCTS VIA OUR PATHWAYS TO PATIENT CAPITAL PROGRAM. THROUGHOUT 2021, OUR COHORT CREATED SOLUTIONS TO CAPITAL ACCESS GAPS FOR MANUFACTURING BUSINESSES, PARTICULARLY THOSE WITH OWNERS OF COLOR. WE CONVENED A GROUP OF POLICYMAKERS, INVESTORS, OTHER THOUGHT-LEADERS IN THE CAPITAL ACCESS SPACE THROUGH A CAPITAL AXXESS ADVISORY BOARD CAAB. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR CONTINUATION.
