Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
IN 2020 SPARK RESCUE SANTA BARBARA RESCUED AND REHABILITATED OVER 300 DOGS AND 37 CATS. MOST OF THE RESCUES WERE TRANSPORTED FROM SOUTHERN CA. ( LOS ANGELES AND BAKERSFIELD). A SMALL AMOUNT WERE OWNER SURRENDERED FROM OUR SANTA BARBARA COMMUNITY. UPON ARRIVAL EVERY DOG IS TESTED FOR GIARDIA, PARVO VIRUS. THE CATS ARE TESTED FOR GIARDIA AND FELINE LEUKEMIA VIRUS. DURING INTAKE EVERY HEALTHY RESCUE RECEIVES VACCINATIONS, DEWORMING, FLEA AND TICK TREATMENT AND BATHED. ALL DOGS AND CATS ARE MEDICALLY TREATED FOR CONTAGIOUS DISEASES BEFORE BEING PLACED INTO A FOSTER HOME. IF THERE ARE BEHAVIORAL ISSUES WE WORK WITH A TRAINER TO CORRECT THE ISSUE THEN MOVE THE RESCUE INTO A FOSTER HOME. EVERY HEALTHY RESCUE LIVES WITH A FOSTER FAMILY WHO CARES FOR THEM, TRAINS THEM AND LEARNS EVERYTHING ABOUT THEIR FOSTER SO THE RESCUE CAN SUCCESSFULLY MATCH THE DOG OR CAT WITH A PRE APPROVED ADOPTER. DURING THEIR TIME LIVING IN A FOSTER HOME THEY ARE ALTERED, GROOMED, MICROCHIPPED AND GIVEN THEIR RABIES. AFTER EACH RESCUE IS ALTERED AND MEDICALLY CLEARED THEY ARE PLACED UP FOR ADOPTION ON OUR WEBSITE WWW.SPARKRESCUE.ORG, SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES, ADOPT A PET AND FEATURED IN LOCAL PRESS. POTENTIAL ADOPTERS SUBMIT AND APPLICATION FOR THE DOG OR CAT THEY WISH TO ADOPT. AFTER THE APPLICATION IS APPROVED A HOME CHECK IS PERFORMED FOR SECURITY AND SAFETY. THE APPROVED APPLICANT MEETS WITH THE FOSTER FAMILY AND IF ALL GOES WELL THE ADOPTER WOULD SIGN AN ADOPTION AGREEMENT AND TAKE THEIR DOG OR CAT HOME. NONE OF THESE DOGS AND CATS WERE CONSIDERED ADOPTABLE BECAUSE OF ILLNESS OR KNOWN OR PERCEIVED "BEHAVIORAL ISSUES".
