THE MISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE/WEST INSTITUTE FOR CANCER RESEARCH (THE "INSTITUTE") IS TO INVEST IN DISCOVERY, INNOVATION AND ADVANCEMENT IN THE FIELD OF ADULT CANCER RESEARCH AND PATIENT EDUCATION, CARE AND SUPPORT AND TO ENSURE THAT ALL ADULT CANCER PATIENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE MOST INNOVATIVE RESEARCH AND EFFECTIVE THERAPIES TO DEFEAT CANCER IN ITS ENTIRETY WHILE RESPECTING INDIVIDUAL QUALITY OF LIFE. THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE/WEST INSTITUTE FOR CANCER RESEARCH WAS FULLY DEDICATED TO RAISING FUNDS FOR ADULT CANCER RESEARCH IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE. THE PLAN WAS TO BROADEN CUTTING-EDGE RESEARCH PROGRAMS AND TO STRENGTHEN THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE THE BEST POSSIBLE CANCER TREATMENT. THESE EXPENSES WERE INCURRED AFTER THE 2020 RESOLUTION TO DISSOLVE THE INSTITUTE AND DURING THE PERIOD IN WHICH THE TENNESSEE SECRETARY OF STATE WAS REVIEWING THE INSTITUTE'S PLAN OF DISSOLUTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE LAW. SEE EXPLANATION ON SCHEDULE O. ACCORDINGLY, 2021 PROGRAM EXPENSES ARE MINIMAL IN COMPARISON TO THE PERIODS OF NORMAL OPERATION.
THE PURPOSE OF THE WINGS SUPPORTIVE CARE DIVISION WAS TO PROVIDE PATIENT EDUCATION AND CARE AS IT RELATES TO THE DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT AND CURE OF CANCER.
