TO FOSTER A THRIVING AND VIBRANT DOWNTOWN DRIGGS

DRIGGS SNOWSCAPES - THE ART OF SCULPTING SNOW PARTICIPANTS = 20 ARTISTS AUDIENCE = 1,600 ON FINALS DAY WITH 4,000 VISITORS OVER 4 WEEKS. DURING THE 3RD WEEK IN JANUARY, THE 10TH ANNUAL DRIGGS SNOWSCAPES WAS HELD, SHOWCASING WHAT MAKES TETON VALLEY UNIQUE AND SPECIAL, SPECIFICALLY ITS APPRECIATION OF SNOW, LOVE FOR CREATIVITY, AND COMMITMENT TO COLLABORATION. SEVEN TEAMS OF ARTISTS SPENT ONE WEEK COLLABORATIVELY TRANSFORMING 8X8X8 FOOT BLOCKS OF SOLID SNOW INTO LARGER-THAN-LIFE WORKS OF ART. ARTISTS FROM IDAHO, WYOMING, UTAH, MONTANA, NEW YORK, PENNSYLVANIA, MAINE, OREGON, COLORADO AND ITALY HAVE SCULPTED ALONG SIDE SEVERAL LOCAL TEAMS, INCLUDING TWO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. A SNOW-SCULPTING WORKSHOP WAS HELD DAILY, AND HUNDREDS OF SCHOOL CHILDREN VISITED ON FIELD TRIPS DURING THE WEEK. 2021 WAS THE FIRST YEAR ONLY A PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD WAS ISSUED, NO FORMAL JUDGING OCCURRED. THE ANNUAL DRIGGS SNOW BALL WAS CANCELLED DUE TO A SURGE IN COMMUNITY COVID CASES.


DRIGGS PLEIN AIR FESTIVAL PARTICIPANTS = 85 ARTISTS FROM 20 STATES AND CANADA AND 31 ARTISTS IN WORKSHOPS. AUDIENCE = 3000+ THE 10TH ANNUAL DRIGGS PLEIN AIR FESTIVAL TOOK PLACE FOR 10 DAYS IN LATE JULY AT THE DRIGGS COMMUNITY CENTER AND PLAZA. ARTISTS DISPLAYED THEIR WORK IN THE COMMUNITY CENTER GALLERY AS WELL AS DIGITALLY FOR ONLINE SALES. TWO WORKSHOPS WERE HELD IN PERSON, ALLOWING 31 ARTISTS TO ENJOY LIVE TEACHINGS AND MENTORING. THE COMPETITION WAS JUDGED. AN OPENING RECEPTION AND CLOSING AWARDS CEREMONY DREW A LARGE COMMUNITY CROWD AND GENERATED MANY ART SALES.


DOWNTOWN SOUNDS PARTICIPANTS: 20 PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS. AUDIENCE - 1000 ATTENDEES. THE 1ST ANNUAL DOWNTOWN SOUNDS CONCERT SERIES WAS HELD AT DRIGGS CITY PLAZA FROM JULY THROUGH SEPTEMBER. THREE OUTDOOR CONCERTS BY A VARIETY OF REGIONAL AND LOCAL BANDS WERE OFFERED FOR DURING THIS VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENT.


IN 2021, DDA HOSTED OVER 200 PROFESSIONAL AND EMERGING ARTISTS INCLUDING PAINTERS, SCULPTORS, ARTISANS, ACTORS, AND MUSICIANS FOR THE LARGEST AUDIENCES EVER. THE HIGHEST RECENT FACEBOOK 28-DAY REACH WAS 4,880, UP 17% FROM THE PRIOR YEAR, WITH OVER 3,108 FOLLOWERS, UP 35%. DIGITAL AUDIENCE REACH FOR SUMMER 2021 WAS OVER 12,000. OVER 126 VOLUNTEERS OF ALL AGES HAVE SUPPORTED DDA'S PROGRAMS IN 2021. IN ADDITION TO SNOWSCAPES, PLEIN AIR, AND DOWNTOWN SOUNDS, OTHER DDA PROGRAMS INCLUDE: SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK PARTICIPANTS = 9 PROFESSIONAL ACTORS. AUDIENCE = 360 PEOPLE ON JULY 20TH, THE 10TH ANNUAL SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARKS WAS HELD OUTDOORS AT THE DRIGGS CITY PLAZA, "A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM". STAGE CONSTRUCTED ONSITE AND PLAY PERFORMED BY PROFESSIONAL ACTORS FROM MONTANA SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARKS, THE NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED OUTREACH PROGRAM OF THE COLLEGE OF ARTS AND ARCHITECTURE AT MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY. MUGLER PLAZA AND ARTISANS AT MUGLER PARTICIPANTS = 17 ARTISTS. AUDIENCE = 150 PEOPLE WEEKLY OR 1800 OVER THE PERIOD OF 12 WEEKS FROM JULY THROUGH SEPTEMBER THE DOWNTOWN PUBLIC SPACE MANAGED BY THE DOWNTOWN DRIGGS ASSOCIATION, MUGLER PLAZA, BECAME THE PERFECT VENUE TO SOCIAL DISTANCE THIS SUMMER. LOCAL ARTISANS SHOWCASED THEIR WARES IN INDIVIDUAL BOOTHS FOR THIS POPULAR COMMUNITY OFFERING. DRIGGS SCARECROW CONTEST PARTICIPANTS = 56 DRIGGS BUSINESSES. AUDIENCE = 4,000 OVER THE COURSE OF 4 WEEKS DOWNTOWN DRIGGS ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES THE SPIRIT OF THE HARVEST WITH THE 2ND ANNUYAL DRIGGS SCARECROW CONTEST, WITH ORIGINAL SCARECROWS CREATED BY LOCAL BUSINESSES AND NON-PROFITS ON-DISPLAY FROM OCTOBER 9 THROUGH OCTOBER 31. MANY LOCAL BUSINESSES PARTICIPATED, CONSTRUCTING ELABORATE SCENES WITH SCARECROWS DISPLAYED IN FRONT OF THEIR ESTABLISHMENTS. THE COMMUNITY VOTED FOR THEIR FAVORITE FOR 5 THEMATIC CATEGORIES.
