LUBBOCK ENTERTAINMENT AND PERFORMING ARTS ASSOCIATION (LEPAA), A TEXAS NON-PROFIT CORPORATION, ENVISIONS A COMMUNITY WHERE EVERY PERSON EXPERIENCES THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF THE ARTS. LEPAA BUILDS COMMUNITY THROUGH EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCES, CREATIVE COLLABORATION, AND INCLUSIVE ACCESS TO THE ARTS, ENTERTAINMENT, AND EDUCATION. LEPAA COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION OF BUDDY HOLLY HALL (BHH), A PERFORMING ARTS AND SCIENCES CENTER, IN JANAURY 2021. LEPAA CONTINUES TO RECRUIT AND PROCURE PARTNERS FOR FUNDING TO PAY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CENTER AND FUTURE OPERATIONS. THESE FUNDING PARTNERSHIPS IMPACT THE COMMUNITY BY OFFERING EVERY PERSON THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE THE ARTS.
LEPAA CONTINUES PLANNING ITS SECOND 5-DAY BUDDY HOLLY SONGWRITERS RETREAT AND CONCERT IN 2022, AS THE 2020 AND 2021 RETREATS WERE POSTPONED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. ASPIRING SONGWRITERS BREAK UP INTO SMALL GROUPS TO COLLABORATE WITH PROFESSIONAL MENTORS THROUGH THE CREATIVE PROCESS OF SONGWRITING. A FRIDAY NIGHT SHOWCASE CONCERT WILL BE HELD TO DEBUT THE BEST SONGS WRITTEN DURING THE RETREAT AND PROVIDE PERFORMERS ON-STAGE EXPERIENCES.
A KODALY INSTITUTE SYMPOSIUM WORKSHOP WAS HELD IN LUBBOCK JULY 2021, PROVIDING MUSIC EDUCATION INSTRUCTION TO THE 300 ATTENDEES.
