SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION EXPANSION OF EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES IMAGINE1DAY USA FOUNDATION APPROVED 7 GRANTS MADE TO IMAGINE1DAY INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION (REFERRED TO AS IMAGINE INTERNATIONAL) IN 2017, TOTALING 164,471 FOR PURPOSES OF SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION. IN 2017, THROUGH VOLUNTEER DRIVEN INITIATIVES INITIALLY STARTED IN 2016 AND COMPLETED IN 2017, WE FINALIZED THE FUNDRAISING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FILANGUR SCHOOL, AND EMBARKED UPON FUNDRAISING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SHENI KONDALA AND GOBELE SCHOOLS. THE LOCATIONS FOR EACH SCHOOL PROJECT WAS SELECTED BY IDENTIFYING AREAS IN NEED IN THE OROMIA REGION OF ETHIOPIA. WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMUNITY LEADERS, IMAGINE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION WAS ABLE TO REALIZE THE EXECUTION OF NEW CONSTRUCTION CLASSROOMS, AS WELL AS TEACHER TRAINING, PLAYGROUND, EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CENTERS, AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR CHILDREN. THE WORK SPANNED ACROSS 10 COMMUNITIES, AND BENEFITTED OVER 5,000 STUDENTS AND OVER 10,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS ACROSS ETHIOPIA.
LIGHTYEAR LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR EDUCATIONAL SUCCESS IN 2016, IMAGINE1DAY USA FOUNDATION EMBARKED ON A FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN, IN COLLABORATION WITH LIGHTYEAR LEADERSHIP, TO BRING LEADERSHIP TRAINING TO THE COMMUNITIES AND GOVERNMENT IN ETHIOPIA. THE FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE, BROUGHT TOGETHER EDUCATORS, SENIOR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, NGOS AND OTHER INFLUENCERS TOGETHER TO GIVE THEM THE TOOLS TO SET VISIONS UNCONSTRAINED BY THE PAST, AND ENROLL OTHERS IN THAT VISION. 2017 REALIZED THIS MISSION, BY GRANTING AN ADDITIONAL 167,751 RAISED BY LIGHTYEAR LEADERS AND WHICH IN TURN SUPPORTED THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ADIMEALSINOM SCHOOL IN TIGRAY. LEADERS TRAVELED TO ETHIOPIA IN MARCH OF 2017, CONDUCTING LEADERSHIP TRAINING ACROSS THE NORTH AND THE SOUTH OF ETHIOPIA FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS, CHILDREN, EDUCATORS, AND GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AT THE LOCAL AND FEDERAL LEVELS.
