RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT AND EDUCATION IS PROVIDED THROUGH BLACK HILLS CHILDREN'S HOME NEAR RAPID CITY, SD AND THROUGH SIOUX FALLS CHILDREN'S HOME IN SIOUX FALLS, SD. 181 CHILDREN, AGES 4-14, MOST OF WHOM ARE VICTIMS OF ABUSE AND NEGLECT, WERE SERVED IN FY 2021.
THE CHILDREN'S INN, LOCATED IN SIOUX FALLS, SD, PROVIDES EMERGENCY SHELTER TO BATTERED WOMEN AND ABUSED CHILDREN. CHILDREN'S INN PROVIDED EMERGENCY SHELTER TO 891 WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN FY 2021.
THE BRIGHT START PROGRAM BASED IN SIOUX FALLS, SD ASSISTS WOMEN TO ENSURE THEY RECEIVE THE CARE THEY NEED THROUGHOUT PREGNANCY AND FOR THE FIRST THREE YEARS OF THEIR CHILDREN'S LIVES. IN 2021, BRIGHT START SERVED 222 FAMILIES WITH HOME VISITATION SERVICES. SEVEN NURSES COMPLETED 1,740 VISITS WITH THE MOTHERS, AND THE MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST COMPLETED 145 THERAPY SESSIONS IN THE CLIENTS' HOMES.
WE ALSO RECRUIT, TRAIN, AND QUALIFY THERAPEUTIC LEVEL FOSTER AND ADOPTIVE FAMILIES. WE ARE A LICENSED CHILD PLACEMENT AGENCY, AUTHORIZED TO PLACE CHILDREN FOR FOSTER CARE AND ADOPTION. WE SERVED OVER 59 CHILDREN AND 25 FAMILIES IN FY 2021. CHS DOES FORENSIC INTERVIEWS TO PROVIDE CHILD EVALUATIONS THROUGH OUR CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER. THIS PROGRAM SERVED 363 CHILDREN IN FY 2021. IN ADDITION TO THESE SERVICES, WE PROVIDED 432 TRAININGS FOR 8,237 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH OUR ADVOCACY AND PREVENTION PROGRAM.
