IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY SUPPORT: WE ORGANIZED A COMMUNITY OF IMMIGRANT ADVOCATES WHO HAVE BUILT TOOLS TO ASSIST RECENT ARRIVALS. OUR OPPORTUNITY FUND HELPED 20 PEOPLE WITH ACCESS TO EDUCATION. OUR MENTOR SHIP PORTAL HAS CONNECTED 35 INDIVIDUALS WITH EMPLOYMENT MENTORS, ENGLISH LANGUAGE PARTNERS, AND SOCIAL TIES. WE HAVE ALSO HELPED NEARLY 20 REFUGEE ARTISTS SHOW THERE WORK AT GALLERY SPACES IN FRONT OF THOUSANDS OF HOUSTONIANS.
WE PUBLISHED MEDIA SPREADING AWARENESS ABOUT THE IMPACT OF COMMUNITY HEALTH ON IMMIGRANT POPULATIONS. OUR FILM, SEEDS OF ALL THINGS, HAS BEEN SEE AROUND THE WORLD AND HELPED ADVOCATE FOR THE NEED TO ADDRESS SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH TO ASSIST IMMIGRANT POPULATIONS.
WE MADE A GRANT AND SUPPORTED THE INCUBATION OF A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE IN THE NORTHERN HORN OF AFRICA. THE ENTERPRISE SOLD FRESH FISH TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES IN HARGEISA, SOMALILAND. HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES WERE GIVEN ACCESS TO FRESH FISH FOR THE FIRST TIME, WHILE NEARLY 20 INDIVIDUALS GAINED FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT THROUGH THE INITIATIVE.
