THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS EQUAL HOUSING AND OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL (EHOC) SEEKS TO ENSURE EQUAL ACCESS TO HOUSING AND PLACES OF PUBLIC ACCOMMODATION FOR ALL PEOPLE THROUGH EDUCATION, COUNSELING, INVESTIGATION AND ENFORCEMENT. EHOC IS WORKING TO END ILLEGAL HOUSING DISCRIMINATION IN THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS AREA. EHOC FIGHTS ILLEGAL HOUSING DISCRIMINATION THROUGH EDUCATION AND OUTREACH, COUNSELING, INVESTIGATIONS AND ENFORCEMENT. WE PROVIDE FAIR HOUSING TRAINING AND EDUCATION FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND OUTREACH BY PARTICIPATING IN GRASSROOTS AND COMMUNITY-BASED PROJECTS, AND INCREASING FAIR HOUSING INFORMATION. THROUGH ITS DISCRIMINATION HOTLINE AND LANDLORD-TENANT HOTLINE, EHOC ASSISTS INDIVIDUALS WHO BELIEVE THEY MAY HAVE BEEN DISCRIMINATED AGAINST WHILE TRYING TO BUY A HOME, RENT AN APARTMENT, GET A MORTGAGE OR APPLY FOR HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE OR IN THE WAY THEY HAVE BEEN TREATED BY A HOUSING PROVIDER WHILE IN THEIR HOME. WE INVESTIGATE CLAIMS AND HELP RESOLVE ISSUES. HOUSING DISCRIMINATION TESTING IS A METHOD USED TO UNCOVER DISCRIMINATION BASED ON RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, GENDER, FAMILIAL STATUS OR DISABILITY. EHOC FILES FAIR HOUSING COMPLAINTS AS DEEMED NECESSARY. IN PARTICULAR, ADDITIONAL WORK WAS DONE DUE TO COVID IN REGARDS TO EVICTION DEFENSE AND PREVENTION LEGAL REPRESENTATION, AND EVICTION PREVENTION TENANT COUNSELING SERVICES.
