THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO OUTREACH TO AT-RISK YOUTH IN THE SAN ANTONIO AND BEXAR COUNTY, TX AREA. OUR PRIMARY GOAL IS TO HELP PARTICIPANTS BOOST THEIR RESPECTIVE SELF ESTEEM BY HELPING TO INSTILL DISCIPLINE, MENTOR, AND PROVIDE A SAFE AND ENCOURAGING ENVIRONMENT. WE WORK TO ADDRESS BOTH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL WELLNESS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
NON-CONTACT TRAINING: OUR ORGANIZATION OFFERS TRAINING 5 DAYS OUT OF THE WEEK. WE TRAIN MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY FROM 4:30PM-7:00PM AND ON SATURDAYS MORNINGS FROM 10AM-12NOON. WE WORK WITH BOYS AND GIRLS STARTING AT THE AGE OF 8 YEARS OLD TO YOUNG ADULTHOOD. OUR PRIMARY GOAL IS TO HELP PARTICIPANTS LOSE WEIGHT AND GAIN CONFIDENCE BY BOOSTING THEIR RESPECTIVE SELF-ESTEEM.
COMPETITION TRAINING: DURING THE SAME PRACTICE TIMES, WE ALSO TRAIN INDIVIDUALS WHO MAY WANT TO COMPETE. THE TRAINING IS A LITTLE MORE INVOLVED AND THESE INDIVIDUALS NEED TO BE REGISTERED WITH USA BOXING. OUR ORGANIZATION IS ALSO REGISTERED WITH USA BOXING ANNUALLY.
INTERVENTION SERVICES: WE HAVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT WITH THE BEXAR COUNTY JUVENILE DEPARTMENT. WE ARE COMPENSATED $15 A SESSION TO WORK WITH YOUTH WHO ARE REFERRED BY THE PROBATION OFFICE. OUR GOAL IS TO WORK WITH THESE INDIVIDUALS AND HELP THEM TO COMPLETE THEIR PROBATION OBLIGATIONS. WE HAVE A 90% SUCCESS RATE WITH THIS PROGRAM.
