SCHOLARSHIPSACTIVITIES RELATED TO PROVIDING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS TO INDIVIDUALS PURSUING A CAREER IN THE AUTOMOBILE AND TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRIES. TRANSPORTATION TECHNICIAN SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED TO STUDENTS WHO SUCCESSFULLY QUALIFY THROUGH THE FOUNDATION'S APPLICATION PROCESS. THE PROCESS PROVIDES EACH APPLICANT THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE THEIR INDIVIDUAL CAREER ABILITIES AND POTENTIAL FOR BEING A FUTURE TECHNICIAN. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED ENROLLMENT ASSISTANCE FOR OVER 200 APPLICANTS AND AWARDED $ 193,000 IN ONE AND TWO-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS AND $ 418,000 IN DONATED AUTOMOTIVE TOOL SETS, TO TRANSPORTATION STUDENTS ATTENDING WISCONSIN TECHNICAL COLLEGES.
EDUCATIONACTIVITIES RELATED TO CAREER AWARENESS THROUGHOUT WISCONSIN INCLUDING: INTRODUCE INDIVIDUALS TO THE VARIETY OF WORK OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE IN THE DEALERSHIP INDUSTRY AND THE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS, PROVIDE INDIVIDUALS WITH INFORMATION ON SUCCESSFUL JOB SEARCH AND INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES, PARTICIPATION IN THE TEACHER CERTIFICATION INSTITUTES TO MAINTAIN THEIR PROFESSIONAL STATUS AND HELP MANAGE THE WISCONSIN AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE EXCELLENCE (ASE) PROGRAM THROUGHOUT WISCONSIN.STUDENT CAREER FAIRS - THE CAREER AWARENESS PROGRAM SERVES STUDENTS THROUGHOUT WISCONSIN. ATTENDEES AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE INTRODUCED TO A VARIETY OF WORK OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE AT DEALERSHIPS AND THE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS. THIS PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH INFORMATION ON SUCCESSFUL JOB SEARCH AND INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES TO APPLY ON ANY OPPORTUNITY IN THEIR EMPLOYMENT SEARCH. TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - THE FOUNDATION CONDUCTS TWO TEACHER CERTIFICATION INSTITUTES FOR TRANSPORTATION TEACHERS TO ASSIST THEM IN MAINTAINING THEIR PROFESSIONAL STATUS. THE TEACHERS INSTITUTE PROVIDES WISCONSIN TEACHERS WITH PROFESSIONAL CREDIT HOURS. THESE TRAINING SESSIONS HELP TEACHERS AND PROGRAMS REMAIN CONTEMPORARY AND MAINTAIN INDUSTRY STANDARDS. ASE ACCREDITATION - THE WISCONSIN AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE EXCELLENCE PROGRAM (ASE) STARTED IN 1997. ASE IS A SATELLITE PROGRAM ASSISTING TRANSPORTATION STUDENTS AND HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM STUDENTS BY PROVIDING INDUSTRY CERTIFIED CONTINUING EDUCATION AND LIFELONG EMPLOYMENT FOR GRADUATES. THE FOUNDATION'S ASE PROGRAM CONTINUES TO SERVE 18 ACTIVE WISCONSIN HIGH SCHOOL AND CO-OP SITES AND SERVED OVER 2,300 STUDENTS. IN ADDITION, SUPPORT IS EXTENDED TO NON-ACCREDITED PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT WISCONSIN SERVING ANOTHER 75+ TRANSPORTATION EDUCATION PROGRAMS STATEWIDE.
COMMUNITY OUTREACHACTIVITIES RELATED TO PROMOTION OF THE AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY AND THE GOODWILL DEALERSHIPS PROVIDE TO THE STATE OF WISCONSIN AND THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES. MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER CAMPS - THE FOUNDATION, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TECHNICAL COLLEGES AND DEALERSHIPS, FACILITATES MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT SUMMER CAMPS CALLED NITRO-X CAMPS. THESE WEEKLONG EXPERIENCES EXPOSE YOUNG PEOPLE TO A WIDE VARIETY OF TRANSPORTATION RELATED CAREER PATHWAYS. STUDENT COMPETITIVE EVENTS - THE FOUNDATION, STAFF AND INDUSTRY VOLUNTEERS ARE THE TECHNICAL COMMITTEE FOR THE ANNUAL SKILLSUSA WISCONSIN AUTOMOTIVE COMPETITION. THE FOUNDATION ALSO ASSISTS AND CONTRIBUTES TO OTHER TRANSPORTATION STUDENT COMPETITIONS IN WISCONSIN.
