SAS-VOCA: SEXUAL ASSAULT SERVICES UTILIZES VOCA FUNDING TO PROVIDE A FULL RANGE OF DIRECT SERVICES TO SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS, INCLUDING CRISIS INTERVENTION, ADVOCACY, THERAPY, BILINGUAL (SPANISH) SERVICES, ALTERNATIVE HEALING, AND MORE. VOCA FUNDING IS ALSO USED TO RECRUIT, TRAIN, AND MAINTAIN A BASE OF VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES WHO ALSO PROVIDE DIRECT SERVICES TO SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS.
LIFESKILLS WI: FUNDING PROVIDED BY THE CARES ACT FROM THE STATE OF WISCONSIN WAS USED TO CONDUCT OUR LIFESKILLS PROGRAM, WHICH IS PROVIDED IN SCHOOLS TO STUDENTS FROM 5TH THROUGH 7TH GRADES TO HELP PREVENT SUBSTANCE ABUSE. FOCUS PARTNERS WITH ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE THIS PROGRAM. THE 5TH GRADE LIFESKILLS IS 12 WEEKS LONG AND COVERS TOPICS LIKE SELF-ESTEEM, COMMUNICATION SKILLS, SOCIAL SKILLS, AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS. THE 6TH GRADE CURRICULUM IS 8 WEEKS LONG AND THE 7TH GRADE CURRICULUM LASTS 6 WEEKS.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION (SAP): THIS PROGRAM HELPS PREVENT DRUG ABUSE USING RESEARCH-BASED MODEL PROGRAMS, POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, AND FAMILY STRENGTHENING. OUR EFFORTS ARE FOCUSED TOWARD YOUTH AND THOSE WHO PLAY A KEY ROLE IN THEIR LIVES. FOCUS REACHES SEVERAL THOUSAND YOUTH EACH YEAR AND SERVES AS A RESOURCE CENTER FOR PARENTS, SCHOOL, AND OTHER AGENCIES.
