OUR PURPOSE IS TO DEVELOP, PROMOTE, MARKET & FACILITATE ACTIVITIES IN & AROUND CARBONDALE DESIGNED TO INCREASE OUT OF TOWN VISITORS. OUR GOAL IS TO WORK TOGETHER WITH OTHER NON-PROFITS & TOURISM PARTNERS TO MARKET CARBONDALE EVENTS & BRING NEW OPPORTUNITIES TO THE AREA.

CARBONDALE TOURISM ASSISTS IN THE ECONOMIC GROWTH OF CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS BY INCREASING VISITS FROM TOURISTS AND BUSINESS TRAVELERS, GENERATING OVERNIGHT LODGING, FOOD AND BEVERAGE REVENUES, AND INCREASING SHOPPING REVENUES. CARBONDALE TOURISM IS THE ONLY TOURISM MARKETING ORGANIZATION IN CARBONDALE AND IS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR MARKETING THE CITY OF CARBONDALE TO VISITORS. IN ADDITION TO PRODUCING AND DISTRIBUTING MULTIPLE BROCHURES AND GUIDES HIGHLIGHTING CARBONDALES AMENITIES, WE WORK WITH OTHER LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS AND TOURISM PARTNERS TO ASSIST IN THEIR ENDEAVORS TOWARDS THE MARKETING OF THE AREA. CARBONDALE TOURISM PLANS AND EXECUTES COMMUNITY EVENTS AND FESTIVALS, WHILE ALSO WORKING TOWARDS BRINGING NEW OPPORTUNITIES TO THE AREA. WE PRODUCE A YEARLY VISITORS GUIDE, OUTDOOR GUIDE, CITY AND CAMPUS MAP, AND OTHER EVENT SPECIFIC PUBLICATIONS. STAFF FOCUS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR DISTRIBUTING THE GUIDES TO POTENTIAL TRAVELERS AND VISITORS THROUGH DIRECT MAIL REQUESTS, LEAD GENERATING PUBLICATIONS, LEISURE TRAVEL SHOWS, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY EVENTS, AND TOURISM INFORMATION CENTERS. ADDITIONALLY, STAFF FOCUSED ON OUR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS AS A FORM OF MARKETING.
