TANF/MIEC HEALTHY FAMILIES SUPPORTS NEW AND EXPECTANT PARENTS WITH IN-HOME, EVIDENCE-BASED KNOWLEDGE AND ACTIVITIES THAT PROMOTE POSITIVE PARENTING AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT; ADDITIONAL SUPPORT IS PROVIDED BY CONNECTING FAMILIES TO NEEDED RESOURCES IN THE COMMUNITY.
SAFETY PIN (PROTECTING INDIANA NEWBORNS) THE GOAL OF THIS FUNDING IS TO REDUCE THE INFANT MORTALITY RATE IN INDIANA, SPECIFICALLY IN NORTHWEST INDIANA.
SUID PREVENTION AND EARLY START SUID (SUDDEN UNEXPECTED INFANT DEATH) PREVENTION FUNDING IS TO PROMOTE SAFE SLEEP EDUCATION AND BETTER MONITOR THE PREVALENCE AND CAUSES OF SUDDEN DEATH FROM AGES 0-18. EARLY START FUNDING IS USED TO PROVIDE SUPPORT SERVICES TO WOMEN TO REDUCE BARRIERS FOR ACCESSING EARLY PRENATAL CARE WITHIN THE 1ST TRIMESTER. WOMEN WHO ARE NOT PREGNANT CAN ALSO ACCESS EARLY CARE THROUGH THIS PROGRAM INCLUDING REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH PLANNING AND CONTRACEPTIVE COUNSELING.
