MICHIGAN INTERFAITH POWER LIGHT S MISSION IS TO INSPIRE AND EQUIP PEOPLE OF FAITH TO EXERCISE STEWARDSHIP OF AND LOVE FOR ALL CREATION.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY - AT THE END OF 2022, WE LAUNCHED THE 2 YEAR SACRED SPACES PROGRAM, WHICH IS HELPING 11 LOW INCOME CONGREGATIONS IMPLEMENT 100,000 EACH IN ENERGY EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENTS AND INSPIRING AND EQUIPPING THEIR COMMUNITIES MEMBERS, NEIGHBORS SERVED BY THEIR MINISTRIES, AND PEER CONGREGATIONS TO SAVE ENERGY AND MONEY AT HOME, WITH GRANT DOLLARS FROM EGLE AND WORLD RENEW. WE ALSO COMPLETED THE 10TH YEAR OF OUR LIGHT THE WAY PROGRAM, CONNECTING 330 HOUSES OF WORSHIP ACROSS THE STATE WITH FREE ENERGY EFFICIENCY UPGRADES, EDUCATED PARTICIPANTS AND SUPPORTERS ABOUT CONNECTION BETWEEN USING ENERGY WISELY AND FAITHFUL EARTH STEWARDSHIP, AND SHARED RESOURCES TO HELP THEM ACCESS DISCOUNTS AND REBATES WHILE PURSUING ADDITIONAL ENERGY SAVING MEASURES. WE ESTIMATE THAT THIS PROGRAM ALONE HAS REACHED WELL OVER 1500 CONGREGATIONS 15 OF ALL MI CONGREGATIONS SINCE 2014.


SOLAR INITIATIVE - WE BEGAN TWO INITIATIVES DESIGNED TO HELP LOW INCOME/LOW WEALTH CONGREGATIONS AND CONGREGATIONS OF COLOR ACCESS SOLAR ENERGY. THROUGH SOLAR SOLIDARITY, WE BEGAN LAYING THE GROUNDWORK FOR SOLARIZING THE FIRST BLACK CHURCH IN DETROIT BY DEVELOPING AN IMPACT LENDING MODEL THAT WE WILL OFFER OUR SUPPORTER NETWORK A WAY TO TAKE ACTION LOCALLY FOR CLIMATE AND RACIAL JUSTICE. WE EXPECT THAT THE PILOT SOLAR SOLIDARITY PROJECT TO BE INSTALLED IN LATE 2023 / EARLY 2024. WE ALSO HELPED NURTURE AND JOINED THE FOUNDING BOARD OF SOLAR FAITHFUL, WHICH FINANCES SOLAR ARRAYS FOR CONGREGATIONS AND OTHER FAITH BASED NON-PROFITS USING A POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENT. SOLAR FAITHFUL ENABLES CONGREGATIONS TO INSTALL SOLAR FOR 0 DOWN AND BEGIN SAVING 10 ON THEIR ELECTRICITY BILLS IMMEDIATELY AND FOR THE LIFE OF THE ARRAY. THROUGH THESE SOLAR INITIATIVE, WE AIM TO BRIDGE THE RACIAL AND ECONOMIC DIVIDE AND HELP BUILD A STRONGER AND MORE INCLUSIVE MOVEMENT FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE


ADVOCACY - WE ADOVACTED FOR THE FEDERAL INFLATION REDUCTION ACT, CLEAN CARS SEEKING STRONGER FUEL EFFICIENCY AND EMISSIONS STANDARDS FROM EPA AND URGING GENERAL MOTORS TO FULFILL ON THEIR PROMISES FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES, AND FOR CLEANER, GREENER ENERGY IN MICHIGAN THROUGH A UTILITY REGULATORY CASE AT THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION.
