SOLAR INITIATIVE - WE HELD 6 IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL SOLAR POWER HOUR EDUCATION SESSIONS IN PETOSKEY AS PART OF OUR GROW SOLAR LITTLE TRAVERSE PROGRAM. THIS INITIATIVE IS AIMED AT PROMOTING RESIDENTIAL SOLAR INSTALLATIONS IN THE PETOSKEY AREA AND POOLING PARTICIPANTS TO ACHIEVE A BULK PURCHASE DISCOUNT. WE ALSO CONTINUED TO DEVELOP AND PURSUED FUNDING FOR OUR SOLAR SOLIDARITY INITIATIVE, WHICH WILL CREATE PATHWAYS FOR BLACK AND PEOPLE OF COLOR-LED CONGREGATIONS TO ACCESS SOLAR ENERGY THROUGH CROWD INVESTING. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 30 CONGREGATIONS IN MICHIGAN THAT HAVE INSTALLED SOLAR ENERGY, BUT NONE OF THESE ARE BLACK OR LATINX. THROUGH THESE SOLAR PROJECTS, WE AIM TO BRIDGE THIS RACIAL AND ECONOMIC DIVIDE AND HELP BUILD A STRONGER AND MORE INCLUSIVE MOVEMENT FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE.
