ENERGY EFFICIENCY - THROUGH OUR LIGHT THE WAY PROGRAM, WE CONNECTED 160 HOUSES OF WORSHIP ACROSS THE STATE WITH FREE ENERGY EFFICIENCY UPGRADES, AND EDUCATED PARTICIPANTS AND SUPPORTERS ABOUT THE CONNECTION BETWEEN USING ENERGY WISELY AND FAITHFUL EARTH STEWARDSHIP, AS WELL AS ABOUT HOW TO DO ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECTS. TEN CONGREGATIONS SIGNED UP FOR OUR HOUSE OF WORSHIP REWARDS PROGRAM AND CHALLENGED THEIR CONGREGANTS TO SIGN UP FOR FREE ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAMS FOR THEIR HOMES.
SOLAR INITIATIVE - WE HELD 6 IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL SOLAR POWER HOUR EDUCATION SESSIONS IN PETOSKEY AS PART OF OUR GROW SOLAR LITTLE TRAVERSE PROGRAM. THIS INITIATIVE IS AIMED AT PROMOTING RESIDENTIAL SOLAR INSTALLATIONS IN THE PETOSKEY AREA AND POOLING PARTICIPANTS TO ACHIEVE A BULK PURCHASE DISCOUNT. WE ALSO CONTINUED TO DEVELOP AND PURSUED FUNDING FOR OUR SOLAR SOLIDARITY INITIATIVE, WHICH WILL CREATE PATHWAYS FOR BLACK AND PEOPLE OF COLOR-LED CONGREGATIONS TO ACCESS SOLAR ENERGY THROUGH CROWD INVESTING. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 30 CONGREGATIONS IN MICHIGAN THAT HAVE INSTALLED SOLAR ENERGY, BUT NONE OF THESE ARE BLACK OR LATINX. THROUGH THESE SOLAR PROJECTS, WE AIM TO BRIDGE THIS RACIAL AND ECONOMIC DIVIDE AND HELP BUILD A STRONGER AND MORE INCLUSIVE MOVEMENT FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE.
WATER PROGRAMS - WE ENGAGED 1,000 DETROITERS AROUND ISSUES OF WATER ACCESS AND WATERSHED STEWARDSHIP AS A PART OF THE LAND AND WATER WORKS COALITION. WE HELD OR COLLABORATED ON WORKSHOPS ABOUT GREEN STORMWATER INFRASTRUCTURE, DETROIT CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE FORUMS, AND A WEBINAR SERIES, WATERSHED MOMENT CHANGING PRACTICES AND PARADIGMS. WE CREATED RESOURCES FOR FAITH LEADERS TO ENGAGE THEIR CONGREGATIONS IN THE CONVERSATION ABOUT WATER AND EARTH STEWARDSHIP, INCLUDING A MULTIFAITH SERMON GUIDE, SAMPLE BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS, AND SUNDAY SCHOOL CURRICULUM FOR CHRISTIAN LEADERS.
