SHELTERED, INC. ADMINISTERS THE ONLY EMERGENCY SHELTER IN SPRINGFIELD, OHIO FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES, SINGLE WOMEN, AND MEN. THE TWO SHELTERS ARE OPERATED 24 HOURS A DAY WITH STAFF. THE MAXIMUM LENGTH OF STAY IS 90 DAYS. SHELTERED, INC.'S PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON PROVIDING EACH CLIENT WITH THE TOOLS TO MAKE THE NECESSARY CHANGES IN THEIR LIVES TO ENABLE THEM TO OVERCOME HOMELESSNESS. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH INTENSIVE GOAL SETTING, CASE MANAGEMENT, EDUCATION, MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT, AND REFERRALS TO APPROPRIATE AGENCIES.
THE HOUSING STABILIZATION PROGRAM CONTAINS TWO ELEMENTS 1) RAPID RE-HOUSING, WHICH PROVIDES A FLEXIBLE ARRAY OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ENABLE HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES TO BECOME AND REMAIN STABLY HOUSED. ASSISTANCE CAN BE PROVIDED IN THE FORM OF RENTAL ASSISTANCE, SECURITY AND UTILITY DEPOSITS. 2) HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION INCLUDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND SERVICES DESIGNED TO PREVENT INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES FROM BECOMING HOMELESS AND DIVERT HOMELESS PERSONS FROM ENTERING HOMELESS SHELTERS.
SHELTERED, INC. MANAGES SEVENTEEN FULLY FURNISHED APARTMENTS FOR THE NEXT STEP PROGRAM, INDEPENDENT LIVING SUPPORTIVE ASSISTANCE (ILSA). THIS SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM HOUSED FAMILIES AND SINGLE MEN AND WOMEN. INDIVIDUALS IN THE PROGRAM RECEIVE INTENSE CASE MANAGEMENT WHERE THEY COMPLETE INDIVIDUAL CASE PLANS THAT WILL ASSIST THEM ACHIEVE THEIR INDIVIDUAL GOALS AND OBTAIN PERMANENT HOUSING.
SHELTERED, INC. OPERATES 15 UNITS OF SUPPORTIVE PERMANENT HOUSING FUNDED BY HUD. THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE CHRONICALLY HOMELESS AND FAMILIES THAT HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY HOMELESS THAT HAVE A DISABILITY. THE INDIVIDUALS IN THIS PROGRAM ARE EQUIPPED WITH A CASE MANAGER WHO WORKS CLOSELY WITH THEM TO ASSIST THEM IN OBTAINING THEIR GOALS WHILE SUSTAINING PERMANENT HOUSING. THIS IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD.
