NESS OFFERS A UNIQUE EDUCATION MODEL THAT EMPOWERS STUDENTS WITH LEADERSHIP, TEAMWORK, CONFIDENCE, AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS TO ENSURE ACADEMIC SUCCESS. NESS IS THE FIRST AND ONLY PROGRAM OF ITS KIND TO BE ACCREDITED BY NEW ENGLAND ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES. NESS'S STEM-BASED CURRICULUM INCLUDES USING MARINE SCIENCE, SAILING, POWER BOATING, AND ADVENTURE SPORTS AS LEARNING PLATFORMS. THE GOAL IS TO INCREASE ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR K-12 STUDENTS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS IN BOTH URBAN AND SUBURBAN MARKETS. NESS'S PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO DELIBERATELY BUILD STUDENTS' SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL) SKILLS AND PROMOTE THE GROWTH OF POSITIVE LEARNING MINDSETS. NESS IS AN EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION DEVELOPING THE LEARNING MINDSETS OF STUDENTS IN GRADES K-12, THROUGH A UNIQUE EDUCATION MODEL WHICH COMBINES EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING WITH THE INTENTIONAL TEACHING OF THE CASEL SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SKILL SETS. NESS SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMS ARE STANDARDS-BASED AND UTILIZE MARINE SCIENCES AND BOATING PLATFORMS TO CREATE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL STUDENTS. NESS IS ACCREDITED BY THE NEW ENGLAND ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES (NEASC), AND ALL PROGRAMS ARE MAPPED TO THE NEXT GENERATION SCIENCE STANDARDS (NGSS). THESE EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDE IN-CLASSROOM EXPERIENCES AND FIELD TRIPS, AS WELL AS ON-LINE EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING COURSES DEVELOPED BY NESS IN 2020 AS A RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
NESS'S SUMMER CAMP INCLUDES OPEN ENROLLMENT SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS AGES 4-17. THE PROGRAMS RUN FOR 11 WEEKS FROM JUNE-AUGUST AND ARE STAFFED BY FULL TIME AND SEASONAL EDUCATORS. STUDENTS CAN REGISTER FOR JUST ONE WEEK OR FOR THE ENTIRE SUMMER. CAMP PROGRAMS COMPRISE A UNIQUE EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING PLATFORM THAT INCLUDES WEEKLY THEMES, EMBEDDED SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING ELEMENTS, AND ARE DESIGNED AROUND AGE-BASED LEVELS IN SAILING, MARINE SCIENCE, ADVENTURE SPORTS, AND POWERBOATING. SUMMER CAMP TAKES PLACES IN STONINGTON, CT, WITH SOME PROGRAMS IN WESTERLY, RI.
NESS COMMUNITY PROGRAMS PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS OF ALL AGES TO PARTICIPATE IN HANDS-ON, EXPERIENTIAL PROGRAMS. NESS OFFERS ADULT SAILING AND FAMILY EXPEDITION PROGRAMS. ADULT SAILING INCLUDES BEGINNER AND INTERMEDIATE CLASSES. FAMILY EXPEDITIONS ALLOW THE ENTIRE FAMILY TO EXPERIENCE A NESS PROGRAM TOGETHER. THESE ARE DONE IN 3-HOUR SESSIONS AND INCLUDE MARINE SCIENCE AND ADVENTURE SPORTS OPTIONS. OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPERIENCE NESS ARE HARBOR TOURS ON EITHER A SAILBOAT OR POWERBOAT. COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS ALSO PARTNER WITH NESS TO BRING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. FINALLY, AS RESULT OF THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC, NESS CONTINUED TO OFFER A SHORE SUPPORT PROGRAM IN 2021 TO ASSIST STUDENTS AND FAMILIES WITH THE CHALLENGES OF DISTANCE LEARNING.
