THE ORGANIZATION WAS FUNDED BY THE IRS TO IMPLEMENT THE TAX FREE PREPARATION VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. THE ORGANIZATION SERVES AS THE FISCAL AGENT AND LEAD AGENCY FOR THE COALLITION FOR FAMILY ECONOMIC PROGRESS CFEP IN EL PASO TX WHICH IS A COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION VITA PARTNERSHIP. IN 2019 24 TAX SITES WERE OPERATED ASSISTING 10,022 LOW INCOME FAMILIES OBTAIN FREE TAX PREPARATION SERVICE AND PROVIDING THEM OUTREACH TO OTHER PARTNER SERVICES INCLUDING FINANCIAL EDUCATION. $16,186,006 IN REFUNDS WERE SECURED AT NO COST FOR TAXPAYERS SAVING APPROXIMATELY $2.6 MILLION IN PREPARATION FEES TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES.
PROVIDE NEIGHBORHOOD STABILIZATION TO CENSUS TRACTS WITH HIGH FORECLOSURE RATES. HOAP BUILT AND SOLD 1 HOME IN 2019 AND PROVIDED QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WITH INCOME UP TO 120% OF HUD DETERMINED ANNUAL HOUSEHOLD INCOME OR THE AREA AS WELL AS HOUSING COUNSELING NSPII ASSISTANCE SCREENING AND A FINANCING MECHANISM TO INCLUDE DOWN-PAYMENT ASSISTANCE CLOSING COST ASSISTANCE AND SOFT SECONDS WITH AN AFFORDABILITY PERIOD FOR RECAPTURE. THE COMPANY MAY PROVIDE QUALIFYING APPLICANTS WITH FIRST LIEN LOANS AS WELL AS THE SOFT SECONDS.
COMMUNITY CENTER IN A LOW INCOME AREA OF THE CITY OF EL PASO. THERE IS A MONTHLY FOOD PANTRY AS WELL AS AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN SUCH AS HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE AND FREE ACCESS TO COMPUTERS AND INTERNET. THERE ARE ALSO YEAR ROUND ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILIES SUCH AS PIZZA NIGHTS AND HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS FOR HALLOWEEN THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS. FOR THANKSGIVING OVER 100 FAMILIES ARE GIVEN A COMPLETE MEAL INCLUDING TURKEYS AND FOR CHRISTMAS OVER 100 CHILDREN RECEIVE A TOY PLUS OTHER GIVEAWAYS. IN AUGUST THE ANNUAL BACKPACK GIVEAWAY TAKES PLACE WHERE OVER 50 CHILDREN ARE GIVEN A NEW BACKPACK FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES. IN ADDITION LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP PROMOTE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE PLUS OTHER COMMUNITY SERVICES GIVE PRESENTATIONS AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER. ESL CLASSES ARE ALSO OFFERED AND THERE ARE ALSO SOME ACTIVITIES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS.
