FOOD PANTRY - THE AVERAGE FAMILY BENEFITING HAS FROM 3 TO 4 INDIVIDUALS & ABOUT 50% ARE SINGLE PARENT FAMILIES. EACH FAMILY RECEIVES ABOUT 40 POUNDS OF FOOD WHICH IS AN ESTIMATED 5 TO 7 DAY, VALUED AT ABOUT $35 PER 20 POUND BAG. IN 2021 WE FED 1,743 FAMILIES, INCLUDING 5,739 INDIVIDUALS, WITH A TOTAL OF 8,715 BAGS OF GROCERIES, WHICH IS ABOUT 174,300 POUNDS OF FOOD, WITH AN ESTIMATED MARKET VALUE OF $305,025. THRIFT STORE & FOOD PANTRY IS OPERATED FROM AN OWNED BUILDING AT 8925 E M-72 WILLIAMSBURG, MI, STORE PHONE 231-938-2990.GUIDELINES FOR ASSISTANCE FROM A.C.T.S. PANTRY: TO QUALIFY FOR FOOD PANTRY ASSISTANCE, THE CLIENT FAMILY MUST MEET FEDERAL POVERTY GUIDELINES AS PUBLISHED ANNUALLY. THE GUIDELINES CAN BE FOUND BY SEARCHING THE INTERNET (CMCS/CAHPG/DEEO). ACTS PANTRY USES 200% OF POVERTY AS A QUALIFIER. ELIGIBILITY IS BASED ON THE FINANCIAL SITUATION OF ALL MEMBERS IN A HOUSEHOLD. EVERYONE WHO LIVES TOGETHER AND PURCHASES AND PREPARES FOOD TOGETHER IS CONSIDERED A MEMBER OF THE SAME HOUSEHOLD. VERIFICATION OF INCOME AND INFORMATION REGARDING HOUSING ARRANGEMENTS AND BRIDGE CARD STATUS IS ALSO CONSIDERED. THOSE THAT QUALIFY CAN RECEIVE FOOD AT NO CHARGE FROM ACTS FOOD PANTRY, TO THE EXTENT THAT WE HAVE ADEQUATE SUPPLY AVAILABLE.
THRIFT STORE PROVIDES AFFORDABLE USED HOUSEHOLD GOODS TO NEEDY FAMILIES, WHICH INCLUDES CLOTHING AND BABY SUPPLIES. INVENTORY IS DONATED GOODS. EXCESS CASH FLOW USED TO SUPPORT THE FOOD PANTRY. THRIFT STORE & FOOD PANTRY IS STAFFED MOSTLY BY VOLUNTEERS. THRIFT STORE PAYS ALL EXPENSES OF HAVING A STORE FRONT FROM THRIFT STORE REVENUES. THERE IS NO COST OF GOODS SOLD FOR THRIFT STORE AS MERCHANDISE IS ALL DONATED AT NO COST TO OPERATIONS.
BUILDING FUND WAS USED TO ACQUIRE FIXED ASSETS, INCLUDING REAL ESTATE, FURNITURE, FIXTURES & EQUIPMENT. WE PURCHASED A 6,960 SQUARE BUILDING AT 8925 E M-72, WILLIAMSBURG, MI, IN MAY 2012, AND THEN OPENED THE NEW BUILDING UP FOR SERVICE ON OCTOBER 1, 2012. MUCH OF THE LABOR WAS DONATED BY VOLUNTEERS. LATE 2017 WE STARTED CONSTRUCTION OF AN 1,800 SQUARE FOOT ADDITION, WHICH WAS COMPLETED OCTOBER, 2018. THIS BRINGS THE TOTAL SQUARE FOOTAGE OF OUR BUILDING TO 8,760 SQUARE FEET.
