FOSTER THE PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, AND SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING OF THE HOMELESS MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN OF THE WEST ORANGE COMMUNITY. WE DO THIS BY MEETING BASIC NEEDS, DEVELOPING SKILLS, AND RESTORING DIGNITY AND INDEPENDENCE TO THOSE WE SERVE.

THE DAY PROGRAM PROVIDES A VARIETY OF SUPPORT TO HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS. THEY CAN OBTAIN MEDICAL CARE, CLOTHING, MEALS, GROCERIES, SHOWERS, HAIRCUTS, TRANSPORTATION, VOCATIONAL TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND HOUSING. IN 2021, THE PROGRAM PROVIDED SERVICES FOR 12,810 INDIVIDUALS INCLUDING: 1,468 INDIVIDUAL HEALTH CARE ISSUES WERE ADDRESSED, 34,247 MEALS SERVED, 2,959 SHOWERS TAKEN, 182 HAIRCUTS GIVEN, 55,389 TOILETRIES DISTRIBUTED, 1,120 LOADS OF LAUNDRY DONE, 1,251 CLIENTS WERE ASSISTED WITH ID CARDS, FOOD STAMPS, MEDICARE, SOCIAL SECURITY, ETC. AND 23 INDIVIDUAL MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN WERE PLACED IN TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROVIDING 2,655 NIGHTS OF SHELTER.
THE LIFE RECOVERY PROGRAM PROVIDES CLASSES TO HELP HOMELESS CLIENTS LEARN ESSENTIAL LIFE SKILLS, IT OFFERS A SUPPORT GROUP TO HELP OVERCOME ADDICTIONS, AND IT ASSISTS WITH CONTINUING EDUCATION NEEDS.
THE REWARD PROGRAM TRANSLATES WORK HOURS INTO "POINTS" WHICH ARE EXCHANGED FOR IN-KIND GOODS AND SERVICES. GUESTS CAN USE THEIR EARNED POINTS TO "PURCHASE" ITEMS SUCH AS CLOTHING, HEALTH SERVICES OR FOOD FROM THE FOOD PANTRY. THIS SYSTEM HELPS OUR GUESTS RESTORE THEIR DIGNITY AND SELF RESPECT.
THE VARIOUS OTHER PROGRAMS HELP THE HOMELESS FAMILIES KEEP THEIR CHILDREN HOUSED, FED AND IN SCHOOL. THE PROGRAMS THEN ENCOURAGE PARENTS TO IMPROVE THEIR VITAL LIFE-SKILLS TO REGAIN SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND INDEPENDENCE.
