DESPITE RESTRICTIONS DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WERA ORGANIZED AND SPONSORED SUBSTANTIVE SESSIONS, CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND RELATED MEETINGS FOCUSED ON THE LATEST FINDINGS, ISSUES, AND TRENDS IN EDUCATION RESEARCH. WERA PRESENTED NUMEROUS VIRTUAL WORLDWIDE WEBINAR PRESENTATIONS AND HOSTED ONLINE WRITING SEMINARS. IN ADDITION, WERA SUPPORTS 19 INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH NETWORKS (IRNS) INVOLVING MORE THAN 80 SCHOLARS. THE FIRST WERA VIRTUAL FOCAL MEETING WAS CONDUCTED IN AUGUSTUS 2021 WITH PRESENTATIONS FROM 48 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. WORKSHOPS CONDUCTED AT THE FOCAL MEETING INCLUDED "WORKING WITH IEA DATA; "LEARNING TO DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT EDUCATION INTERVENTIONS AND "SUCCESSFUL ACADEMIC PUBLISHING: A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE". FURTHERMORE, THE FIRST VOLUME OF THE WERA-SPRINGER BOOK SERIES ENTITLED "EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE: EVIDENCE AND PRACTICE" IN THE BOOK SERIES "EDUCATION SCIENCE, EVIDENCE, AND THE PUBLIC GOOD" WAS LAUNCHED.
