DURING 2021, BLOSSOM HILL FOUNDATION SPONSORED THIRTEEN PROGRAMS IMPLEMENTED BY 16 FELLOWS:?YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO PREPARE REFUGEE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE UNITED STATES. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES TOEFL AND SAT PREPARATION CLASSES, AS WELL AS ONE-ON-ONE MENTORING, TO GUIDE 150 STUDENTS THROUGH THE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS. ?SCIENCE KITS: THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS WITH PRACTICAL OUTCOMES KNOWLEDGE AND TAKE-HOME SCIENCE KITS. THE PROGRAM DELIVERED 620 KITS TO REFUGEE CAMPS IN GREECE AND CONDUCTED WORKSHOPS WITH 23 EDUCATORS. THE KITS INCLUDED VIDEOS, TRANSLATED SCIENCE VOCABULARY DOCUMENTS IN FOUR LANGUAGES AND ACTIVITY PLANS. ?AZRAQ SCHOOL: THIS IS AN EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER TO SUPPORT EARLY ACADEMIC AND BEHAVIORAL NEEDS OF YOUNG REFUGEES AND OTHER VULNERABLE CHILDREN THROUGH ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION ACTIVITIES INSPIRED BY MONTESSORI METHODS. THE BLOSSOM HILL EARLY EDUCATION CENTER ENROLLED 80 CHILDREN AGES 3-5 IN AZRAQ. ?EL SISTEMA - BLOSSOM HILL BEGINNERS ORCHESTRA: THIS IS A BEGINNERS ORCHESTRA THAT PROMOTES THE SOCIAL INCLUSION OF REFUGEE CHILDREN IN GREEK SOCIETY. 75 STUDENTS HAVE ENROLLED, 35 GIRLS AND 40 BOYS. THE ORCHESTRA PERFORMED ONLINE CONCERTS DUE TO COVID.?CODING FOR GIRLS - IT IS A PROGRAM PROVIDING ONLINE WEB DESIGN AND CODING CLASSES FOR 200 GIRLS IN HERAT, AFGHANISTAN. 80 GIRLS RECEIVE JOBS. ?RECODED: THIS IS A CODING BOOTCAMP AND WORKSHOP FOR CONFLICT AFFECTED YOUTH IN YEMEN AND TURKEY. 50 STUDENTS ENROLLED.?ANKAA PROJECT: THIS PROGRAM CREATES SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS FOR DISPLACED PEOPLE THROUGH THE PROVISION OF WORKSPACES THAT ARE SELF-LED TO PROVIDE EDUCATION, VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND SKILL EXCHANGE. THE PROGRAM ENROLLED 79 STUDENTS WHO ARE TAKING 1-3 CLASSES. STUDENTS ARE OFFERED ENGLISH AND GREEK CLASSES, COMPUTER, MEDIA, COOKING AS WELL AS WORKSHOPS IN TAILOR, CARPENTRY, METALWORK, SCREEN-PRINTING, JEWELRY, ELECTRICITY, AND BIKE REPAIR. ANKAA STUDENTS MADE MASKS FOR HOSPITALS AND ORGANIZATIONS WORKING WITH VULNERABLE GROUPS, CAMPS, DETENTION CENTERS, ETC.?FORMALLY: IT IS AN INTUITIVE FORM-FILLER TRANSLATED INTO 100 LANGUAGES, INCLUDING ARABIC AND FARSI, TO BREAK THESE BUREAUCRATIC BARRIERS AND MAKE IMMIGRATION, SAFETY, HEALTH, AND EDUCATION ACCESSIBLE FOR REFUGEES AND DISPLACED PEOPLE. 10,000 CLIENTS BENEFITED FROM THIS PLATFORM.?LITERACY AND TAILORING PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM AIMS TO EMPOWER INTERNALLY DISPLACED GIRLS IN KABUL, AFGHANISTAN TO EARN A LIVELIHOOD. THE PROGRAM'S GOAL IS TO BRING POSITIVE CHANGE AND ALLEVIATE POVERTY IN THEIR LIVES. CURRENTLY, THERE ARE 42 GIRLS, AGES 15-24, ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM. AS THE TALIBAN REGIME BANNED GIRLS FROM GOING TO SCHOOLS, HIS PROGRAM HAS INCREASINGLY BECOME A SOURCE OF HOPE FOR SOME OF THE MOST DEPRIVED AND UNDERSERVED CONFLICT-AFFECTED GIRLS IN THE COUNTRY.?MAKAN INITIATIVE: THIS PROGRAM HELPS 90 CHILDREN THROUGH INTERACTIVE PLAY TO HEAL FROM THE TRAUMA OF CONFLICT.
