GENERAL PROGRAMS CRITICAL EXPOSURES PROGRAM TEACH PHOTOGRAPHY LEADERSHIP AND ORGANIZING SKILLS TO LOW INCOME YOUTH OF COLOR IN DC. OUR WORK IS HIGHLY INNOVATIVE. WE ARE THE ONLY ORGANIZATION IN THE DC AREA AND ONE OF ONLY A HANDFUL OF ORGANIZATIONS NATIONALLY THAT TEACHES LOW INCOME YOUTH HOW TO USE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ORGANIZING SKILLS TO BECOME LIFELONG CIVIC LEADERS. PAST STUDENT EFFORTS HAVE HELPED TO MAINTAIN ARTS GRADUATION REQUIREMENT FOR DC SCHOOLS WON FUNDING FOR A NEW SCHOOL LIBRARY ESTABLISHED A NEW ETHNIC STUDIES CLASS AND SECURED INCREASED TRAINING FOR SCHOOL SECURITY GUARDS. THROUGH OUR PROGRAMS WE ARE DEVELOPING A NEW GENERATION OF YOUTH ORGANIZERS AND CIVIC LEADERS WHO HAVE THE CREATIVITY TO IMAGINE NEW SOLUTIONS TO OLD PROBLEMS AND THE BELIEF THAT THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO FIGHT FOR BETTER SCHOOLS AND STRONGER COMMUNITIES.
