IN JUNE 2021 WCEC PARTNERS WITH TWO AREA WOMEN'S BUSINESS CENTERS FOR AN EVENT ENTITLED FROM PANDEMIC TO PROGRESS - HOW SMALL BUSINESSES CAN PROSPER DURING COVID & BEYOND. THE EVENT FEATURED KEYNOTE ADDRESSES FROM US SENATOR BOOKER & GILLIBRAND AS WELL AS BY NATALIE MADEIRA COFIELD, ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR FOR THE SBA'S OFFICE OF WOMEN'S BUSINESS OWNERSHIP. OUR SPEAKERS PROVIDED EDUCATION ON MARKETING, FUNDING, CONTRACTING & DIVERSITY. WE HAD 55 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE, AND THE EVENT HELPED TO RAISE $16,500 IN SPONSORSHIP REVENUE TO SUPPORT OPERATIONS OF THE WCEC.
WE WERE AWARD AN ADDITIONAL GRANT FROM US SBA WHICH ALLOWED THE WCEC TO HIRE TWO ADDITIONAL EMPLOYEES: AN E-COMMERCE PROGRAM MANAGER & AN OUTREACH COORDINATOR. THIS AWARD ALLOWED WCEC TO DEVELOP A NEW ECOMMERCE PROGRAM AIMED AT ASSISTING BRICK & MORTAR BUSINESSES WHO HAD BEEN IMPACTED BY COVID TO PIVOT & INTRODUCE ECOMMERCE CAPABILITIES INTO THEIR BUSINESSES.
WCEC WAS SELECTED AS A SPOKE OF THE COMMUNITY NAVIGATOOR PILOT PROGRAM, WITH LISC NEWARK, AS THE HUB.
