THE PURPOSES OF THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG WORKING DOG ASSOCIATION (WDA) ARE TO: ENCOURAGE AND PROMOTE TRAINING OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY PUREBRED GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS AND TO DO ALL POSSIBLE TO BRING THE NATURAL QUALITIES OF THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG BREED TO PERFECTION; TO AID WITH EVERY POSSIBLE MEANS IN DEMONSTRATING THE CONSPICUOUS ABILITY OF THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG BREED IN ITS ROLE WITH: THE MILITARY, POLICE ENFORCEMENT, DRUG AND EXPLOSIVE DETECTION WORK, SECURITY WORK, HERDING, SEARCH AND RESCUE WORK; RED CROSS, GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND AND DEAF AND AS A COMPANION; THERAPY AND HELP, AND OTHER SERVICE ACTIVITIES; INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS AS DETERMINED BY THE BOARD; TO PUBLISH LITERATURE, PERIODICALS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS IN THE INTEREST OF THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG BREED; AND TO WORK WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS REGARDING HEALTH AND GENETIC RESEARCH, AND TREATMENT TO PRESERVE THE HEALTH OF THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG BREED.-WE RECOGNIZE THE GERMAN SHEPHERD BREED STANDARD AS DEFINED BY THE FEDERATION CYNOLOGIQUE INTERNATIONALE (FCI), AND FOLLOWED BY THE SV (VEREIN FUR DEUTSCHE SCHAFERHUND) AND THE WORLD UNION OF THE ASSOCIATIONS FOR GERMAN SHEPHERDS (WUSV). CURRENTLY, WE OFFER HIP ("A" STAMP) AND ELBOW ("ED" STAMP) HEALTH EVALUATIONS. WE ALSO OFFER TWO OTHER SPINAL HEALTH EVALUATIONS, THE LUW (LUMBAR-SACRAL TRANSITIONAL VERTEBRAE/LTV), AND OC(D) (OSTEOCHONDROTIS DISSECANS) EVALUATIONS. ALL HEALTH EVALUATIONS ARE PERFORMED BY THE SV. ADDITIONALLY WE OFFER TATTOO AND MICROCHIP VERIFICATIONS ON PEDIGREES WHEN NECESSARY. WE ALSO ASSIST IN DNA TESTING PERFORMED BY THE SV.
