JAZZ PROGRAMMING - BERKS JAZZ FEST IS A SERIES OF JAZZ CONCERTS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY, INCLUDING SOME WITH NO ADMISSION CHARGE. IT PROVIDES A FORUM FOR THIS ART FORM AND DRAWS PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE BERKS COUNTY TO EXPERIENCE WHAT BERKS HAS TO OFFER. THIS EVENT WAS HELD AUGUST 7 22, 2021. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HAD OTHER JAZZ PROGRAMMING DURING THE HALF YEAR, INCLUDING EDUCATION, WITH NO ADMISSION CHARGED.
BANDSHELL CONCERTS - FREE OUTDOOR CONCERTS PERFORMED ON FRIDAY EVENINGS WHICH SHOWCASE A GREAT VARIETY OF MUSIC FORMS. AN INFORMAL PARK SETTING MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR ANYONE WHO SO DESIRES TO ATTEND. BANDSHELL CONCERTS WERE HELD IN JULY AND AUGUST 2021
OTHER PROGRAMS - VARIOUS WORKSHOPS AND PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO PROMOTE THE ARTS AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES IN BERKS COUNTY. EVENTS INCLUDED SPECIAL CONCERTS AND EXIBITIONS HELD THROUGHOUT THE SIX MONTH PERIOD AND FOR THE HOLIDAY. ARTS ROUNDTABLE: A BI-MONTHLY PROGRAM FOR LOCAL ARTS ORGANIZATIONS AND ARTISTS TO MEET, SHARE IDEAS, DISCUSS CURRENT TRENDS/PROGRAMS AND FUNDING. PENNSYLVANIA PARTNERS IN THE ARTS" RE-GRANT PROGRAM: 36 PROGRAM STREAM GRANTS TOTALING $113,423 AND THE LAUNCH OF A BRAND NEW CREATIVE ENTREPRENEUR ACCELERATOR PROGRAM FOR BUSINESS ENTREPRENEURS IN THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES. PUBLIC ART INSTALLATIONS: IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GREATER READING CHAMBER ALLIANCE, READING DOWNTOWN IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT, READING PARKING AUTHORITY AND SOUTH CENTRAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY, BERKS ARTS CREATED SEVERAL OUTDOOR ART GALLERIES FEATURING LOCAL ARTISTS. OUTDOOR GALLERIES FEATURED THE THEME OF HOPE, HEALING AND COMMUNITY UNITY. THIS PROJECT WAS THE IMPETUS FOR A COMMUNITY ART WALK AND MAPPING PROGRAM TO FEATURE A VARIETY OF PUBLIC ART, SCULPTURE AND ARCHITECTURE THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF READING. ARTISTS INVOLVED IN PROJECT: 80. COMMUNITY OUTREACH: DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE EXACT NUMBER OF PEDESTRIANS, ROAD TRAFFIC AND BICYCLISTS VIEWING ARTWORK DOWNTOWN.GET JAZZED EDUCATION PROGRAMS: WHILE THIS PROGRAM WAS SCALED BACK THIS SIX MONTH PERIOD STILL DUE TO COVID, WE STILL HELD SEVERAL WORKSHOPS AND EXPERIENCES FOR AREA STUDENTS AND EDUCATORS COMMITTED TO THE JAZZ ARTFORM.
