MOTHER AND CHILD EDUCATION CENTER (MCEC) HELPS EXPECTANT MOTHERS AND FAMILIES GET SERVICES, EDUCATION AND SUPPLIES THEY NEED TO HAVE A HEALTHY PREGNANCY, SAFE DELIVERY, AND SUPPORT FROM INFANCY THROUGH THE TODDLER YEARS. EXPECTANT PARENTS ARE PROVIDED WITH LOVING SUPPORT, EMERGENCY SUPPLIES, PARENTING EDUCATION AND THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO BECOME COMPETENT, CONFIDENT PARENTS. THE GENERAL PUBLIC IS PROVIDED EDUCATION ABOUT PREGNANCY AND PARENTING THROUGH COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND SOCIAL MEDIA.

COMPLETED 50 YEARS OF CONTINUOUS PROGRAMMING, OPEN FIVE DAYS PER WEEK FOR DIRECT SUPPORT, CLASSES, AND CONNECTIONS TO PARTNER AGENCIES, AND OPERATE A 24-HOUR PARENTING SUPPORT LINE IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH. CLASSES INCLUDED CHILDBIRTH, NEWBORN CARE, SAFE SLEEP FOR INFANTS, MOTHERING YOUR BACK PAIN THROUH YOGA, HEALTHY FAMILY HABITS, SUMMER SAFETY, BABY WEARING, AND EARLY CHILDHOOD MADE FUN. MCEC PROVIDED COMMUNITY OUTREACH THROUGH PARTNER AGENCIES SUCH AS WIC AND NURSE FAMILY PARTNERSHIP, WEBSITE,AND SOCIAL MEDIA. WE PROVIDED MORE THAN 55,000 ITEMS OF FOOD, CLOTHING, HYGIENE AND PERSONAL CARE ITEMS, DIAPERS, BLANKETS, PRE-NATAL VITAMINS, BOOKS, FORMULA AND OTHER SUPPLIES SUCH AS CAR SEATS, CRIBS, AND STROLLERS TO MORE THAN 2,000 PARENTS THROUGH CLASSES AND ON-SITE APPOINTMENTS. CLIENTS GAINED PRACTICAL PARENTING SKILLS, CREATED HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS FOR CHILDREN, AND GAINED TOOLS TO ADVOCATE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES. 78% OF CLIENTS WHO CAME TO MOTHER & CHILD FOR THE FIRST TIME WERE ALREADY PARENTING CHILDREN AND 22% WERE PREGNANT.
