WASHOE COUNTY SEARCH AND RESCUE INC. CELEBRATED 50 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF WASHOE COUNTY IN 2015.IN 2022 OUR MEMBERSHIP CONSISTS OF ROUGHLY 31 VOLUNTEER MEN AND WOMEN.WE COMPLETED OVER 2,461 COMBINED HOURS OF TRAINING IN AREAS SUCH AS AVALANCHE FIRE EVACUATION LAND NAVIGATION MAN-TRACKING METAL DETECTION ROPE SYSTEMS AND PATIENT CARE AND PACKAGING; ALL IN AN EFFORT TO REMAIN ADEQUATELY PREPARED FOR ANY SITUATION THAT MAY PRESENT ITSELF IN THE FIELD. IN 2022 WASHOE COUNTY SEARCH AND RESCUE RESPONDED TO 52 MISSIONS. THESE MISSIONS INCLUDED 38 SEARCHES FOR MISSING LOST OR INJURED PERSONS. NUMEROUS PEOPLE WERE SAFELY RESCUED OR ASSISTED AS A DIRECT RESULT OF OUR EFFORTS. TWELVE EVIDENCE SEARCHES IN WHICH LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES REQUESTED OUR ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING EVIDENCE RELATED TO VIOLENT CRIMES IN THE RENO TAHOE AREA. ONE PLANE CRASH REQUIRED OUR ASSISTANCE AGAIN AT THE REQUEST OF LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TO LOCATE EVIDENCE IN SUPPORT OF THE CORONER'S INVESTIGATION. LASTLY 1 FIRE EVACUATION MISSION WHERE OUR TEAM ASSISTED LAW ENFORCEMENT AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO SAFELY EVACUATE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. WASHOE COUNTY SEARCH AND RESCUE MEMBERS DONATED A TOTAL OF 3,915 OFFICIAL AND RECORDED HOURS TO SEARCHES TRAINING AND COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENTS RESULTING IN A SAVINGS OF $262,305 FOR THE CITIZENS OF WASHOE COUNTY.
