LIONS EYE BANK OF DELAWARE VALLEY IS COMMITTED TO ENHANCING A PERSON'S QUALITY OF LIFE BY RESTORING OR IMPROVING VISION THROUGH CORNEAL TRANSPLANTATION, MEDICAL RESEARCH AND EDUCATION.

FACILITATING CORNEA TRANSPLANTS THROUGH THE RECOVERY, EVALUATION, PROCESSING AND DISTRIBUTION OF DONATED CORNEAL TISSUE, INFORMING THE PUBLIC OF THE NEED FOR CORNEA DONORS, ARRANGING FOR TRANSPORTATION, CORNEA RESEARCH AND PUBLIC RELATIONS. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDED THE GIFT OF SIGHT TO APPROXIMATELY 1,051 PEOPLE. THE EYE BANK COORDINATED THE RECOVERY OF 1,710 TISSUES FROM 855 DONORS. THESE RECOVERIES RESULTED IN PROVIDING 1,051 CORNEAS FOR SIGHT RESTORING OR IMPROVING CORNEA TRANSPLANT SURGERY. ADDITIONALLY, THE EYE BANK PROVIDED GRATIS TISSUE FOR 73 TRANSPLANT SURGERIES FOR PATIENTS WHO ARE UNINSURED OR UNDERINSURED.
