Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
OUR YMCA IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD AND TEEN. WE BELIEVE THAT ALL KIDS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE. THAT'S WHY WE HELP YOUNG PEOPLE CULTIVATE THE VALUES, SKILLS, AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, BETTER HEALTH, AND EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT. OUR YMCA PROGRAMS, SUCH AS YOUTH & GOVERNMENT, OFFER A RANGE OF EXPERIENCES THAT ENRICH COGNITIVE, SOCIAL, PHYSICAL, AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH THROUGH HANDS ON LEARNING AND SERVANT LEADERSHIP. EXPENSES INCLUDE SUBSIDIES AND DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THAT MAKE PARTICIPATION POSSIBLE FOR THE 300 YOUNG PEOPLE WE ENGAGE FROM ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH. EACH YEAR MORE THAN 300 TEENS PARTICIPATE IN THE ELECTION OF THEIR PEERS TO RUN A MODEL LEGISLATIVE SESSION IN THE STATE CAPITAL BUILDING EACH SPRING. OUR EVENTS ARE STAFFED BY MORE THAN 50 ADULT VOLUNTEERS AT HIGH SCHOOLS ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH WHERE OUR TEENS WORK YEAR ROUND TO GROW AS CITIZENS AND SERVANT LEADERS.
