THROUGH THESE AWARDS, TAMEST PROMOTES BROADER AWARENESS OF THE STATE'S TOP ACHIEVERS IN MEDICINE, ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE, AND BUILDS A STRONGER IDENTITY FOR TEXAS AS AN IMPORTANT DESITNATION AND CENTER OF ACHIEVEMENT IN THESE FIELDS. 2021 ANNUAL CONFERENCE: FORWARD TEXAS: COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. THE 2021 ANNUAL CONFERENCE WAS RESCHEDULED TO JUNE 2022. THE RESCHEDULED CONFERENCE BROUGHT TOGETHER THE RESEARCH COMMUNITY TO IDENTIFY WHAT TEXAS COMMUNITIES NEED IN ORDER TO BE STRONG AND SUCCESSFUL AND TO TAKE THE IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITY TO EXAMINE THE RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND THE VIRUS'S IMPACT ON THE STATE. AS A RESPONSE TO THE CONFERENCE RESCHEDULING, TAMEST HOSTED A SERIES OF VIRTUAL MEETINGS AND PROGRAMS. THIS INCLUDED THE FORWARD TEXAS DIGITAL SERIES WHICH INCLUDED CONVERSATIONS ON COVID-19 AND COMMUNITY HEALTH. THIS ALLOWED TAMEST TO BEGIN CONVENING ON THE TOPIC WHILE PLANNING FOR THE RESCHEDULED IN-PERSON CONFERENCE IN 2022.
TEXAS DEFENSE/AEROSPACE INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM PROJECT. THE GOAL IS TO DEVELOP A POWERFUL INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM TO SERVE NATIONAL SECURITY NEEDS, WHICH WILL RESULT IN LARGE AMOUNTS OF ADDITIONAL RESEARCH FUNDING, ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITY, AND ECONOMIC RETURNS FOR TEXAS.
