THE DEPARTMENT WAS FORMED FOR THE PURPOSE OF FIRE PREVENTION, EXTINGUISHMENT, AND PROTECTION FROM FIRE, DESTRUCTION AND DAMAGE OF LIFE AND PROPERTY DUE TO FIRE. THIS COVERS THE RESIDENTS OF THE BEDFORD HILLS FIRE DISTRICT.

BENEFITS TO AND FOR MEMBERS INCLUDE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ATTENDING FIREMEN'S PARADES, MEMBERSHIP WELFARE COSTS (FRUIT BASKETS, CARDS AND FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS SENT TO SICK OR DECEASED MEMBERS' FAMILIES), RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, BADGES, PLAQUES, YEAR'S OF SERVICE AWARDS, COMPANY DINNERS, DEPARTMENT MEALS AT MONTHLY DEPARTMENT MEETINGS, SWEATSHIRTS FOR MEMBERS, AND SPONSORING THE LOCAL CHILDREN'S LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM.
EQUIPMENT RENTAL AND MAINTENANCE COSTS CONSIST OF SUPPLIES (FOOD, PAPER GOODS, BEVERAGES, ETC) RELATED TO THE DEPARTMENT'S ACTIVITIES AND MEETINGS.
