USO CENTERS, STAFFED BY VOLUNTEERS, DELIVER FREE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO MILITARY MEMBERS AND DEPENDENTS THAT 1) RESIDE IN, 2) ARE TRAVELING THROUGH OR 3) ARE VISITING THE TRI-STATE AREA. THESE CENTERS PROVIDE A WARM AND COMFORTABLE PLACE WHERE SERVICE MEMBERS AND FAMILIES CAN CONNECT WITH LOVED ONES VIA INTERNET OR TELEPHONE, PLAY A VIDEO GAME, HAVE A SNACK OR JUST PUT THEIR FEET UP TO RELAX. VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE VISITING MILITARY FAMILIES WITH CONCIERGE TYPE SERVICES OFFERING RECOMMENDATIONS ON LODGING, RESTAURANTS, TOURS, AND WILL EVEN CREATE MULTI-DAY ITINERARIES IN ADVANCE OF THEIR ARRIVAL TO THE NYC AREA. FIVE CENTERS INCLUDING A MOBILE USO CENTER ARE LOCATED IN THE TRI-STATE AREA.
USO PROVIDES PROGRAMS FOR THE WHOLE MILITARY FAMILY - FROM THE MOMENT THEY ENTER MILITARY LIFE AT A MILITARY ENTRANCE PROCESSING STATION, THROUGHOUT THEIR MILITARY SERVICE, AND AS THEY TRANSITION BACK INTO THEIR HOMETOWNS AND COMMUNITIES. TWO OF OUR LARGEST FAMILY PROGRAMMING INITIATIVES ARE DESIGNED TO HELP KEEP OUR MILITARY CONNECTED BY RECOGNIZING THE SERVICE OF THE ENTIRE MILITARY FAMILY - OPERATION THAT'S MY DRESS (OTMD), AND OPERATION THAT'S MY RIDE (OTMR). OTMD PROVIDES THOUSANDS OF NEW DESIGNER DRESSES (WHICH HAVE BEEN DONATED TO THE USO) TO MILITARY TEENS AND SPOUSES FOR HOMECOMINGS, PROMS, MILITARY BALLS AND HOLIDAY EVENTS. OTMR PROVIDES THOUSANDS OF NEW BICYCLES TO THE CHILDREN OF MILITARY FAMILIES.
