THE ALBERT AND MARY LASKER MEDICAL RESEARCH AWARDS RECOGNIZE AND HONOR INDIVIDUALS OR GROUPS WHO HAVE MADE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS IN BASIC OR CLINICAL RESEARCH AND IN SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT OR PUBLIC SERVICE ON BEHALF OF HEALTH AND MEDICAL RESEARCH IN THE DISEASES THAT ARE THE MAIN CAUSES OF DEATH AND DISABILITY.
