EDUCATION PROGRAM EXPENSES SUPPORT THE OVER 1,000 STUDENTS WHO MATRICULATED FROM PRE-KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE 12 DURING THE YEAR. OUR STUDENTS LEARN AT OUR CENTRAL GREENWICH CAMPUS ALONG WITH TWO MORE SUBURBAN GREENWICH CAMPUSES AND AN EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING CAMPUS IN RURAL VERMONT. OVER 250 FACULTY, ADMINISTRATORS AND SCHOOL STAFF SUPPORT THE EDUCATION OF THE WHOLE BOY IN KEEPING WITH THE SCHOOL'S PURPOSE. THE 20/21 ACADEMIC YEAR WAS MARKED BY THE ON-GOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE SCHOOL REOPENED AS SCHEDULED IN SEPTEMBER AND REMAINED OPEN THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE YEAR WITH NO UNEXPECTED CLOSURES. PROTOCOLS WERE IMPLEMENTED TO PROTECT AGAINST THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 THROUGHOUT THE CAMPUSES. PCR SURVEILLANCE TESTING WAS PERFORMED ON CAMPUS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE YEAR AND, AT KEY REOPENING POINTS AFTER SCHOOL VACATIONS, THE ENTIRE POPULATION WAS TESTED. THE SCHOOL'S MULTIPLE CAMPUSES PROVIDED THE OPPORTUNITIES TO SPREAD CLASSES OUT. CLASSES THAT WERE NORMALLY TAUGHT BY TWO FACULTY MEMBERS WERE SPLIT IN HALF TO PROMOTE SOCIAL DISTANCING AMONGST STUDENTS. NEW DESKS AND CHAIRS WERE PURCHASED TO OUTFIT NEWLY CONVERTED CLASSROOM SPACES. UPGRADES TO THE VENTILATION SYSTEM AND OTHER FRESH AIR MODIFICATIONS WERE MADE IN ALL BUILDINGS. THE FACILITIES DEPARTMENT CONTINUED REGULAR DEEP CLEANING AND ENHANCED DAILY CLEANING. PLEXI-GLASS PROTECTORS REMAINED ON TEACHER DESKS AND AT ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES. THE SCHOOL MANAGED A SUCCESSFUL YEAR IN TERMS OF MEETING ITS EDUCATIONAL MISSION.
ATHLETICS ARE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THE SCHOOL'S MISSION OF EDUCATING THE WHOLE BOY AND ALL OF OUR BOYS PARTICIPATE IN ATHLETIC AND GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP ENDEAVORS DURING THE ACADEMIC DAY. BOYS IN GRADES 7 AND ABOVE PARTICIPATE IN INTERSCHOLASTIC COMPETITIONS AFTER-SCHOOL. FITNESS AND MANY SPORTS ARE SUPPORTED AT THE SUBURBAN GREENWICH CAMPUSES, WHICH INCLUDE A HOCKEY RINK, A NATATORIUM, A SQUASH FACILITY, TENNIS COURTS, A TRACK AND FIELD FACILITY AND INDOOR GYMS AND MANY NATURAL GRASS AND SYNTHETIC FIELDS WITH ORGANIC INFILL. A BOATHOUSE THAT SUPPORTS THE SCHOOL'S CREW PROGRAM IS SITUATED ALONG THE BYRAM RIVER IN GREENWICH. THE SAILING PROGRAM IS RUN ALONG THE LONG-ISLAND SOUND. ATHLETIC PROGRAMS RAN ALL YEAR-LONG, THOUGH THE OPENING FALL SEASON WAS SEVERELY IMPACTED WITH SCALED DOWN COMPETITIONS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.
STUDENT SERVICES INCLUDED A SCALED-BACK AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM FROM THE START OF THE YEAR, WHICH WAS RAMPING UP BY THE SPRING AS THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ABATED IN THE AREA. SUMMER PROGRAMS WERE HELD VIRTUALLY, DESPITE THE THEN IMPROVING PANDEMIC CONDITIONS, TO MAINTAIN CAUTION AT THESE NON-ESSENTIAL PROGRAMS. THE SCHOOL CONTINUED ITS INTER-CAMPUS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM BY IMPLEMENTING ADDITIONAL COVID-19 PROTOCOLS AND THE BOOKSTORE REOPENED AT THE START OF THE SCHOOL AND REMAINED OPEN FOR THE BOYS TO OBTAIN BOOKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES ALL YEAR LONG.
