These are the most common type of private foundation. They are generally endowed, usually from a single individual or family. Private foundations are considered family foundations if relatives or the original donor are still active on the board of trustees or in the operation of the foundation.

THE MONETA RESCUE SQUAD, INC. PROVIDES EMERGENCY MEDICAL AND TRANSPORT SERVICES TO THE MONETA, VA COMMUNITY.

TO ORGANIZE, CONDUCT, SUPPORT AND PROMOTE BENEVOLENT ACTIVITIES TO SELECTED RESIDENTS OF THE SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, VIRGINIA COMMUNITY.

TO ENSURE THAT ALL CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES CAN HAVE ACCESS TO ADAPTIVE DEVICES, TO RAISE COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND TO BE AN ADVOCATE FOR POLICY REFORM

THE MONETA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT INC OPERATES AND MAINTAINS THREE FIRE STATIONS LOCATED IN BEDFORD COUNTY VIRGINIA TO PROVIDE FIRE PROTECION TO APPROXIMATELY 5,000 HOMES AND BUSINESS PROPERTIES.

The goal of this organization is the fund-raising entity for a single institution within the Philanthropy, Voluntarism & Grantmaking Foundations major group area.

TO DEVELOP GOOD NEIGHBORS' SKILLS AND VALUES IN CHILDREN THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT NOURISH AND EDUCATE, AND BY SUPPORTING EXPERIENCES FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS THROUGH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIPS.

The goal of this organization are the organizations like chambers of commerce, business leagues and commercial trade associations whose members are businessmen and women and merchants who have affiliated for the purpose of promoting the general commercial interests of the community or the interests of their own trade. ALSO PROVIDES ONE OR MORE CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL AND LITERACY ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, ADULTS & SENIORS.

THE HOME TOUR SPONSORS ONE ANNUAL FUND RAISING EVENT AND GIVES ALL OF THE NET PROCEEDS TO EIGHT COMPETITIVELY SELECTED CHARITIES WHO PROVIDE CHARITABLE SERVICES IN THE AREA OF SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE.
