MISSION:

The goal of this organization are the private foundations that make grants based on charitable endowments. Because of their endowments, they are focused primarily on grantmaking and generally do not actively raise funds or seek public financial support. These are the most common type of private foundation. They are generally endowed, usually from a single individual or family. Private foundations are considered family foundations if relatives or the original donor are still active on the board of trustees or in the operation of the foundation.

A TRADITIONAL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOUNDED IN 1994, COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF THE LOWCOUNTRY, INC. SERVES THE RESIDENTS OF SOUTH CAROLINA COUNTIES: BEAUFORT, COLLETON, HAMPTON, AND JASPER. THE KRUM FOUNDATION WILL FURTHER ITS EXEMPT PURPOSES BY MAKING GRANTS DIRECTLY TO THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AND TO ORGANIZATIONS WHICH ARE, OR COULD BE SUPPORTED BY THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION CONSISTENT WITH ITS OWN CHARITABLE PURPOSES. COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANTS ARE AWARDED TO ORGANIZATIONS THAT WORK IN A VARIETY OF CHARITABLE AREAS, INCLUDING ARTS & CULTURE, EDUCATION AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, AND HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES. BOTH THE KRUM FOUNDATION AND THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION EXPECT TO MAKE SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS TO INDIVIDUALS.
