THE CORPORATION WAS FORMED TO LESSEN THE BURDENS OF GOVERNMENT AND ACT IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST; TO FACILITATE ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT WAYNE COUNTY, NY INCLUDING THE LOCATION AND EXPANSION OF CIVIC, INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL FACILITIES, THE CREATION OF NEW AND IMPROVED JOB OPPORTUNITIES, THE REDUCTION OF UNEMPLOYMENT AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE WELL-BEING OF ITS COMMUNITIES AND RESIDENTS.

TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS OF VACANT, ABANDONED, DERELICT, CONTAMINATED, OR TAX DELINQUENT PROPERTY IN WAYNE COUNTY IN A COORDINATED MANNER THROUGH THE ACQUISITION AND DISPOSITION OF REAL PROPERTY AND RETURNING THAT PROPERTY TO PRODUCTIVE USE IN ORDER TO STRENGTHEN THE ECONOMY, IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE, AND IMPROVE THE FINANCIAL CONDITION OF THE MUNICIPALITIES, THROUGH THE USE OF THE POWERS AND TOOLS GRANTED TO LAND BANKS BY THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK.

THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF WAYNE COUNTY PROVIDES ASSISTANCE IN PET POPULATION CONTROL, SHELTER FOR LOST, ABUSED, AND NEGLECTED ANIMALS, AND EDUCATION FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN ORDER TO ASSIST THEM IN THE PROPER CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF PETS.
